It is the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, the most holy city for Muslims, and a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey, and can support their family during their absence. Apart from being an obligatory religious duty, the Hajj is seen to have a spiritual merit that provides the Muslims with an opportunity of self-renewal.Hajj serves as a reminder of the Day of Judgment when Muslims believe people will stand before God. For example they repent and ask for forgiveness and that's why they feel emotional because they are actually repenting for the since they have committed or they also pray for themselves and their families wellbeing. The reason for their crying is that they seek forgiveness, mercy, tenderness, tranquility, peace and guidance for themselves and for all the people of Allah (the Lord and the God), and the reason for their joy afterwards because they feel God's forgiveness and mercy for them. They come from different countries as you see. This day is called the day of Arafa in a mountain called Mount Arafa where Adam met his wife Eve peace be upon them. This city is called Makkah, which is the most honorable and the most famous spot in the face of the earth

Muslims are gathered every year in a particular days to perform one of the five pillars of Islamic Religion which is Al hajj (pilgrimage) in large numbers (millions of Muslims) in an important event which is hosted by the Saudi government. They perform that as the prophet Mohammad peace be upon him teach. It is only once in life you must do, other than that you can go and visit the holy sites ( Mecca and Madina). All of worshiping is for Allah sake and for his forgiveness and rewards.

The Black house in the middel is named " the kaaba" : it is the house of prayer established by Adam, & then by prophet Abraham peace be upon him & his son Ismael.. The Bible, in the Chapter of Genesis describes its building when God ordained Abraham to erect a Shrine for worship, when Abraham was ordered to go to the Southern desert with his wife Hagera and infant son Ismael. Allah explains the importance of visiting the Holly city of Mekkah (or Bekkah) in these verses: (3:96)" Behold, the first House (of Prayer) established for mankind is the one at Bakkah: it is full of blessing and a centre of guidance for the whole world. (3:97) In it there are clear signs and the station of Abraham; whoever enters it becomes secure. Pilgrimage to the House is a duty owed to Allah by all who can make their way to it. As for those who refuse to follow His command, surely ALLAH does not stand in need of anything."

It's pilgrimage for the Muslims which they can afford they had to go to Mecca Saudi Arabia n also when u were saying what's going on the ppl on the mountain with their hands up that is the day called Arafat when someone finishes performing hajj they go there n on that day it's the day to ask for forgiveness where the almighty forgives sins the year before n year after if I'm not mistaken so that's what they r doing
