Sounds intriguing, but likely too experimental for my taste.

I think there are probably better places to start with Russ.

@@sfwordsofwonder yes. I think her stories may be the best place to start. They seem to be well regarded. “We who are about to…” also sounds interesting.

Loads of profanity and uncomfortable situations that make little to no sense? Sounds like life to me! 🤪 Maybe I should check this one out eventually. Think I'm definitely going to get started on Hominids though. Have a good one!

Haha, yeah not for everyone, that is for sure.

I've only read her 'We Who Are About To...' and i found it experimental and frustrating. I don't think I'm too eager to check this one out. Hominds wasn't exactly what I expected but I did enjoy it a lot.

Yeah Hominids is different than what I was thinking for sure, almost half way done. It's a fast read.

Thank you for reading it so I won't have to.

I'll always prefer Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy, from around the same time, because it's, frankly, easier to read and sort out - but I do love both.

Noted, thanks Seth.

I've never read Russ and it sounds like I won't. I read The Left Hand of Darkness and it approaches gender much better. When I read SF I want much more than Russ has to offer. And I don't take being lectured well at all!

Russ is unique but I think Le Guin is way more approachable.
