After waTching your review I decided to purchase one. It just arrived today and I am really pleased with great tone. Easy on my arthritic fingers and wrist and doesn't hurt my shoulder like my heavy strat . If I had known how easy they are to play I would have purchased one at the very start of my guitar learning 60 years ago. I have small hands and I spent many hours stretching them out but I still had trouble reaching the fourth frett. On the duo sonic I can reach every fret perfectly. Its as if it was made to measure. Thanks for the great review.

Finally a video of the guitar that I am looking to pick up! I had my swings on if I should get this one or not. Been balancing on Squier Cyclone, Classic Vibe '50s Strat, and Squier/Vintera '60s Mustang. Waaay too many guitars to pick from, but in the end I need a humbucker guitar and none of the ones I mentioned has one. Thanks for the video for this guitar model and color, the exact one I'm looking to get. P.S, your strap locks are upside-down. The cup is supposed to cup the strap button. 🙂

I had a surf green one a couple of years ago but I sent it back because of a blemish on it, but I've been thinking of picking one up again, yours is a beauty

I'd love to have one in that finish with another white humbucker at the neck and 1 coil tap switch for both pickups.

Love the content! How do you feel about the SS version? Have a great deal on one but I’m worried about the noise when entering mid-high gain territory. These things in Canada are going for like 1200-1500 new, way out of my price range. Thanks!

I usually have good success with an SS and a noise gate if you play with gain. I assume since you want single coils that you are not going into hard rock/ metal territory with the gain so this can work for you.

@@robertsguitarsandgear Thanks for the quick reply! Not metal territory but I was thinking 90s alternative indie rock territory. Would you suggest the HS version instead? Or any other alternatives?

@@brandonhamilton370 For me the HS brings it all, but really I think you would be fine with either - just be ready with the noise gate on your board if needed with the single coils.

Robert, I am a recent subscriber to your vlog. Your videos regarding models suited for players with small or injured hands are what what initially attracted me. I have arthritis in my left hand, and it has become harder for me to extend my left index finger across the entire first fret to form a F chord of which I am satisfied. Or, to reach up or down 4 or 5 frets. I have carefully studied your videos on the Squier Bullet Mustang, the Fender Player Duo Sonic, the D'Angelico Premier Atlantic and some others. It seems to me that the nut width would be more important to someone like me rather than comparing scale length, number of frets or even fingerboard radius. A guitar with a narrower neck at the first fret would seem more important to me than a 12" or 14 " radius. Would it not? Getting my index finger comfortably across the whole first fret means more to me than just the curvature of the fret surface? Could you please make a recommendation for a shorter nut or narrower first fret width guitar. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks so much.

I have the same guitar, same color too. I love the maple neck so I went with the red. I love everything about this guitar except for the switch. I have had random issues when I switch from bridge to neck where it will go completely off and I have to cycle it before it comes on.

@@TheCommonSenseProfessor We just touched base on Facebook! Now I remember that I had the same problem with the pickup switch and fixed it by spraying on a bit of contact cleaner. It worked great, I just wiped off the excess, and no more problems.

@@robertsguitarsandgear great thanks, I will try that and see if it fixes mine. Definitely easier than re-soldering a switch.

cool looking guitar! would you say this guitar could be modded for metal? nothing crazy or too downtuned but say.. e flat tuning with 10-46s an a brighter humbucker? as a guy with smaller hands i have to say the 24 inch scale is very appealling! It just pains me to see that companies like ibanez and jackson bring at these half sized 'kiddie' guitars but theres a huge gap in the market for 24 inch shredders. It seems back in the 80s there were some decent 24 and a half inch scale guitars for metal but nowadays they are so rare or insanely expensive. btw how thin is the neck on this fender compared to say a jackson dinky or a wizard 3?
@robertsguitarsandgear
@robertsguitarsandgear Жыл бұрын
Thanks. It is a classic Fender Neck, very comfortable, thin, but for sure not Wizard thin. The Humbucker in the Bridge is quite capable, but you could certainly put a JB or other high output humbucker in and be shredding your head off.
