Hi Ben, thank you for your interesting content. I have another tip for the template that you want to make from thicker aluminum sheet metal on the driver's side. You absolutely have to drill out the corners before bending, otherwise it will tear right there or it will crack there later. Look closely at the part on the Ferrari passenger side. Please keep it up and I look forward to your next video. Warm greetings from Germany.

Great work! I like how you guys get the fact of "make it look like a Ferrari" instead of sweating the factory details. Your welds are as good, or better than the Italian welds. Good stuff!

I saw an old comment from Commander Enzo Ferrari, saying something like this: "Ferrari engines are a work of art, as for the rest from the car...we give it away for free." I think he hinted that they don't care if it breaks easily or not.

It’s good that he pushes himself design and building the Mustang but Ben seems at his best and most comfortable doing the frame work. The comments seem to reflect this and I always enjoy the collaborative stuff with Sam and the Goonzquad boys. I get cost wise why Sam’s gone for an aftermarket hood but I’d prefer it to have the stock louvres. The triple ones will be a bit if a giveaway that some penny pinching has been done!

The only significant issue I noticed with the job is how he waited to take the "kink" out of the upper brace after he got the bottom squared up. Without going into the stresses caused by doing this, this is going to cause an issue with the next person that removes one of the bolts holding either upper or lower brace to the frame. If he had straightened the kink prior, it would not have been off an inch when he repaired the bottom brace. So, when(or if) bolts get removed from either brace they will be a challenge to get back in. Normally you want to work all sides evenly to put materials in zero stress status when Assembled.

hi i am a panel beater as well you need to pull the damage in reverse to how it happened start with the stronger damage first rails skirts etc the radiator support brace which ben did last was the weakest of all the damage if you pulled it first then did the rails etc there would be a very good chance it would have moved and he would have to re do it i would have done it almost the same as ben did remember no 2 accidents are the same and you have to do things a lot different with aluminium [aluminum to all the yanks] pulling one piece will move other pieces it is a juggling act at best remember all of the aluminium on the core support is welded and all the bolt holes are over size because thats how ferrari lambourghini do thing all hand welded no 2 side are exactly the same ben heated the aluminium at the welds when he pulled or pushed it that releaves the stress if there was stress it would have cracked there endeth the lesson
@therocket280z7 Жыл бұрын
@@glennarnold3970 Yeah, we weren't shown everything, and he did have the measurements. So, it could be alright. But, from what we saw, it didn't stay in position without the puller. Every .05 of an inch the frame is off in this location easily turns into half an inch at the tire, which some of Samcrac's cars have been off on alignment in caster, if you watch his videos.

"Fixed" if you welded it and didnt t5 treat the welded sections -look it up, theres a lot of detail about aluminium welding missing in this video anout welding aluminium , dont drive it for six weeks or so at least, not that you will but it will at least have a chance to age harden... When you weld "structural aluminium" as you call it, presumably t5 or t6 6000 series? You kinda reset the T5 but which refers to post processing heat and age traetment. T5 is very specific.. a long bake at specofic temp followed by a lower temp precipitation hardening... Then usually a week or two age hardening to ensure best results and give any residual internal stress to settle out. Depends on the alloy, and im no ally welder myself but im pretty sure if i attempted this sort of work id be quoting considerably more detail about residual stresses , alloy numbers. And this fact...which is 40% weakening guaranteed each side if the weld joint if you weld t5 and dont heat treat it afterwards. Im oretty sure when ferrari welded that thing up? They heat treated it after yhey qelded it , not before ... Yeah i checked. The ferrari process is that the frame is welded T6 temper 6311 alloy and is post weld heat treated, the whole frame, this repair isnt likely a good idea. Motorcyle frames are similar in alloy and treatment. And they usually are never repaired if significantly damaged and to do it correctly you need a big ,very hot oven.

Hey DDE, send the 720 to V Tuned. They just Jack and cut. Who needs a measuring device or set points for the frame! It seems like V tuner buys whatever grade of aluminum ( no mention of the grade of aluminum or how they take measurements to ensure the work is safe) and has no idea what type of aluminum he is replacing. Again in the video it would appear all aluminum is the the same, pop cans to a super car frame. “Might have to buy aluminum this thick on Amazon”. Oh my god, yes slap the parts back on. Maybe I am crazy, cause I am from Canada but there were numerous grades of aluminum based on the need. I wouldn’t put my ex wife in that car, even thought the hood looks great! Oh, by the way it doesn’t fit well. Nothing to do with the body/frame damage…V tunes has its due to it being fibreglass. A form fitted part doesn’t fit (shoot, bet that’s the case with every measured part!🤦♂️) I wonder if they Jack the car to make the hood fit? Frame straightening machines have been around for decades. But there are jigs or measurement devices to ensure things are correct. Your life depends upon it. Perhaps it’s the editing, but V tuning makes it look like anyone can fix a frame. Just like anyone can be you lawyer. Just figure it out, or turn off the camera. 🤦♂️

I found out about map gas when I'd do plumbing repairs when there was still a little water in the pipe. Propane wouldn't do it but map? bingo any water that trickled down was boiled away instantly. You can get flame spreaders for your torches so it's not centralized. I actually used my map gas torch to weld up some aluminum pieces for my cnc machine. (you can buy aluminum welding rods at your local hardware store, not for pros but for home gamers they work fine).

Not a project anyone without experience should tackle. I remember 1986 I was the young man washing and cleaning out cars at the body shop of a Ford dealer. A customer brought in a 1970’s Ford full size 4 door car that their insurance totaled. It had a pretty bad front sway but they wanted to fix the car anyways. One of the guys chained it to a floor anchor and used a hydraulic ram to pull it back straight. I was washing a car for a customer and my Boss came over and said Boyd stay behind that car until he’s done doing that pull.

I am guessing cracc will find a way to cabbage the steering rack back together! Oh well Ben is amazing but this time Cracc is over the top but not in a good way! I used to laugh at a lot of Craccs stuff because he can be funny but he better do some full disclosure on this Ferrari when he pawns it off on some poor person! This is one of those times I don't see any humor in Craccs methods! Back in 1968 my Dad bought a 1967 Chrysler 300 2dr. hardtop from the local Dodge dealer. It had something like 3K miles and looked new. It was a Gold metallic and had an amazingly beautiful paint job. I remember admiring it when my Dad brought it home. Anyhow since he bought it from the Dodge dealer he wasn't worried about issues but the car didn't track right going down the highway. He took it to an alignment shop for an alignment and the guy there said the frame was tweaked and could not be properly aligned. It turned out the guy who bought it new died in the car when I went off the road! Anyhow my Dad was an ex WW2 Marine Raider and a no nonsense kind of guy. He made them do a workable deal money wise on a brand new 68 Dodge Polara which worked out really well for him! There is a downline component to this which Cracc doesn't seem to care about!
