Glad to see you giving the domino exposure to your subscribers. It is definitely the "easy" button of cabinet construction/building.

I have both, just a hobby woodworker but have a festool addiction. I look forward to the upcoming videos and am sure I will find new ways to appreciate even more, these amazing tools.

My Domino 500 arrived just yesterday. I reading the manual now but it leaves a lot to be desired for me. I'm sure your videos will clear most of the confusion up so I'm very much looking forward to viewing them. Thanks!

The smaller domino also has knock-down fasteners available now.

Yes, I plan on getting some as they work with thinner material. My primary material is 18mm ply so it will be nice to have KDs that will work.😎🤙

I have the 700 and with the accessories you can now cut the smaller mortises on the 700 that you did on the 500
@TheSmartWoodshop3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but the smaller cutters are designed to spin faster than the larger 700 cutters. I looked at the adapter, but decided that I did not want to risk damage to my 700. It may be fine, but I have the 500 and prefer it over the 700, I only use the 700 for functions that the 500 can't do. 95% of my Domino work is done with the 500. That being said, I would choose the 700 if I had to choose between them.

This was brought up in a recent festool live, it was mentioned that early on festool tested the smaller cutters in the 700 but the reality was that they were just snapping too many of the smaller bits for it to be realistic

@@adamfuller6655 well I use em all the time with no issues ?? I used the smallest on a display box and it worked perfectly
@adamfuller66552 жыл бұрын
@@TeamProsperity I have used both a lot, the 500 i typically use several times a week for work, the only time I reach for the 700 is when i need the depth, usually for door work. I don’t do those on a regular basis. I have used the adapter for the smaller cutters on the 700 and it worked fine for me too. But i find the 500 more comfortable for most of my use but it could be that I just have more time on it.

Hi Ron. Thanks for the video. I hope you have (or will) put the Domino videos into a dedicated playlist. This looks like a tool/application that would compliment what I do and it is great to learn the details from someone who is accomplished at the skill/tool prior to diving in, especially when there is a nontrivial expense involved. Keep up the content please! Happy Thanksgiving.

I plan to add a domino to my tool kit as a remodeler. Which one do you recommend getting first?
@TheSmartWoodshop Жыл бұрын
I would go with the 500. The 700 will do everything the 500 will do and more, but I use my 500 90% of the time. I would say, if you think you will need the large dominos and or the knock downs, then I would go with the 700.
