The Fiend Bray Wyatt Mattel WWE Elite Series 77 Action Figure Review

I don't buy a lot of Mattel WWE figures but I couldn't pass up the Fiend Bray Wyatt. Huge fan of wrestling, no extra money for plastic wrestlers, but I gotta have the more interesting characters and gimmicks.

As a wrestling fan, the issue I have with Mattel is that they don’t evolve. They got the WWE license, I think in 2009/2010, and haven’t changed articulation, paint apps and molds, (except for head sculpts), and they give us soft goods for clothes sometimes, and other times give us molded plastic that hinders all posing options. These were awesome in 2010 standards, but there are so many more options that have come along since then. Even Hasbro who is notorious for reuse, has been changing it up with drop down hips, and different diaphragm/chest crunch articulation schemes.

See, that's where I'm blissfully ignorant because I haven't messed with many WWE figures. BUT, these do have that same ol' Mattel feel that has rarely changed since the 00s. I'm happy to have Bray but yeah, some things could be easily updated.

I’m not really sure how you can say that considering 95% of all Hasbro figures still use the bog standard articulation scheme they’ve used since 2011. Its only in special instances where they break it.

Agreed. They need to get their act together and update the articulation. All Elites should have double elbows so they can at least hold their belts properly. The ankles are pretty janky too. The women Elites just recently got double knees, that's how far behind Mattel is lol.

DarlingDaily very true, hasbro has been using the same molds for a long time now.... but only recently have been offering new articulation to marvel legends. But outside of that, the power ranger and new G.I. joe classified are pretty good. And although I don’t like hasbro MCU figs, they do a pretty good job of creating new molds/sculpts... they are just the best 20$ figure imo. I do like imports and higher end figures a lot better though lol

That's one dope figure, Mattel is somewhat improving the wwe elite line of figures. Start watching AEW Dynamite, Matt Hardy is killing it.

@@TheFwoosh they are fun to collect but hard as well because the line started 10 years ago and if you're a completionist it's hard to go back. I started collecting when the line started and I don't even have anywhere close to the complete series. I'm pumped for the AEW line as well!

I’ve always been a huge fan of the elite line. Mattel have been killing it with their stuff and their photoreal is usually really great. The ultimates line is great too if you can catch them on sale.

Haven't picked up a wrestling figure in a long time. May need to get this. Also, they used to have a mobile game called WWE Immortals it was a fighting mobile game made by Netherrealm studios. It was about a multiverse of wrestlers with crazy costumes. It's a shame they didn't do a line of figures based on that game.

Everything Mattel looks terrible. Idk why WWE doesn't leave. I'd gladly sell all my wwe figures to rebuy them from hasboro or mcfarlane. I know mcfarlane doesn't articulate well but most of mine stay in box so looks are more important.

I just got my Fiend in the mail and they definitely changed the hair color. Mine is much lighter. More blonde than brown. Very similar to his photo on the side.

Yeah I just got back into WWE figures. and yeah they use a dumbbell joint for all of their figures used to have over a hundred but used them all for custom marvel figures LOL. I am currently making a Doc Ock. And might use a Mattel dinosaur figure for Lizard

Exactly, the first time he showed up as Fiend with the tights and boots, it threw me because 1) I'd only seen Bray in loose pants and 2) they were oddly thin compared to the rest. But then that initial realization wore off and I went "Man, he looks badass!"

You're correct with the exception of the boots and hands everything else is a new sculpt on the Fiend. Sting's boots wood have been closer, and the belt being painted on does indeed suck. Oh man, I've been following AEW since before AEW, with Being the Elite and Bullet Club antics. I was already watching so when I heard Matt was heading that way I knew it'd be a perfect fit. I was huge into WCW in the late 90s and that magic is back, I watch the full episodes of AEW while I just catch highlights for WWE.

I love that Matt Hardy changes to different versions: team Extreme, Version 1, Big Money etc. And the Matt Facts are back! I absolutely loved the Stadium Stampede match too. Double or Nothing was the first wrestling PPV I bought on my own. I had went in on PPVs with others before, but paying for all of one, this was the first. And I was not disappointed. Hangman rode in on a HORSE! poor Sammy, and Matt Hardy is a doctor now too. Haha. One could say that the PPV (and AEW in general) was WONDERFUL! I think I actually learned about the Matt Hardy figure ( the one with Vanguard 1 and Scarsguard) being found in Targets from a Fwoosh video. I went a few days later and found one. I might pass on this Bray Wyatt though, the price is pretty inflated, even on Ringside Collectables... but if a Funhouse Bray with puppets came out, that would be a different story.

I recently stopped watching WWE because it’s not that intriguing to me anymore and few things are. Undertaker retired after Wrestlemania 2 months ago and I haven’t watched in two months. The Fiend was one of the few things I enjoyed because Bray Wyatt is amazing but other than him, Orton, Edge, AJ Styles, and Drew McIntyre. there isn’t much left there for me.
