Got this car as a rental now for 2 weeks and I like it alot, drives very good (I am an inexperienced driver just got my license a year ago) now I only got one problem. Once coming up to a roundabout it shut itself off and wouldn't turn on again at all like seriously stuck, not even start stop button would work and disengaging the gear and re-engage didn't do anything so I just sat there for good 3 minutes with my hazard lights on blocking the traffic until - it somehow turned on again without any input and accelerating to 4000 rpm until I pressed the gas pedal myself and it worked normally ever since. Very weird, what I'm guessing is it was a rainy day and there was some shortage that did this. No clue why but until then I actually considered getting this as my first daily but now I kind of want to get an older car with less tech and more turning the key to turn it off and on because I don't need that stuckage... the more tech the more bugs.

Good review. I am not sure a real hybrid is much better. It becomes a lot heavier with lot of batteries. Also, the power still come from the engine. got the new facelift 125hp version of the car and what you describe with regen in sport mode is something i like tbh. but i have about 1000 km of seat time in a pure electric prototype light vehicle that had more electric power and was half the weight. and the aggressive regen realy grew on me. the fiesta feels like that very pocket rocket prototype at least what the regen is concerned and since brake pads cost money well might as well. comes with the side effect though that you have to give like 1or2 mm of throttle at a slight downhill section to not loose speed makes about 0.5l/100km not bad enough to hate it. just while it obviously is charge state dependent how much / how aggressive it regens i happen to get a somewhat unpredictable driving behaviour since nobody ever anywhere tells you the charge of your battery... sometimes almost no regen what so ever (or so it feels) sometimes like 20% brake pedal just by going off the throttle.... 3rd and 4th gear seem to regen quite well 6th feels almost not there

It doesn’t slow down fast enough to be driven like that. The biggest issue is the time between lifting your foot from the throttle and the regen system kicking in. If it kicked in instantly, it would be easy to judge the slowdown. It’s the uncontrolled change in pace that makes it hard to judge.

Is there a more expensive way of generating electricity? Is there?
@JBCTR3 жыл бұрын
This is the replacement for the outgoing petrol ecoboosts, so you won’t be able to buy a ‘normal’ one going forwards. Kevin Bushell Hi, I haven’t driven the 140 red / black edition But my Nephew has a 125bhp zetec S and that is remapped to 155bhp and it feels quite Nippy for a 1.0. And I’m an ST focus Driver so ? Yeah. The 140 according to Superchips can Gain 36bhp and 56 ft/lbs Torque. For £334. That’s 174 bhp from a 1 litre engine The old Fiesta ST has a 1.6 ecoboost with 180bhp . 😉 So what do think ? I Have my Focus ST Mk 3.5 remapped by Superchips, I quite often give people a Shock when They can’t overtake me . It’s worth £330 mate . Change the car it’s been in for about 1 year now no problems with it.

You can’t really call it a hybrid then ?? It’s just a new version of stop start to call it hybrid it must be able to run at least 50 miles on battery power so it can be used in towns and cities so my opinion is why bother just buy a eco boost but without the tree hugging rope around your neck and extra service costs that go with it !!
@bernddasbrot24533 жыл бұрын
By definition, mild-hybrid vehicles use an extra electric motor to support the regular combustion engine. They do not have to be able to drive fully electric (like full-hybrid vehicles, e.g. many Toyota cars, do). In this case, if I get this right, the electric motor is driving the crankshaft of the combustion engine during the low rev area. It provides additional torque, therefore you need less fuel to accelerate from standstill. Basically this electric motor works as a compensation for the lack of turbocharger while accelerating in the low revs regime. At higher revs, the turbocharger does its job just like in a regular combustion engine. The electric 'motor' then works as a generator to load the 48V battery.

@@bernddasbrot2453 I don’t disagree however what’s the point having one it just means more electrical rubbish bolted to the engine and loads more maintenance costs to the owners nothing really green about it !! So no point buying one if it isn’t able to run on electrical power for at least 50 miles !! Or just go and buy a full EV or wait until Tesla release the new model 2 hatchback for £18,000 that’s going to wipe the floor with all other car manufacturers !!! Because what I’ve seen of it I’m ordering one for the wife perfect 👌

@@JBCTR when you put an Yaris hybrid on the dyno,the max power and torque figures are given by both powertrains together. The hybrid part on the mild hybrid cars is nothing more than a boost at low RPM (some people call it advanced start/stop system),the max power and torque numbers are given by the ICE alone. I'm not saying that it's a bad system but I'm sure in max 2 years all the cars on sale will have a similar system. That means we all going to drive hybrids?

You use the word pokey quite a few times, can you explain exactly what you mean please, it can’t be anything to do with the dictionary definition as you refer to the interior being a nice place to be and demonstrate the space in the drivers seat as being good.

All very well an nice however on a different note, I believe that these 'rechargeable' vehicles won't be all there made out to be, I believe the only way it will have to pan out is with Hydrogen powered vehicles it's a no brainer, battery powered vehicles just won't cut it when your looking at 35 million (cars) including charging ports, not to mention all the other vehicles on britons roads, also don't forget fast charging won't be possible unless you want to destroy the battery, that's a fact by the way, (always read the small print) also why in heck would anyone want to drive a standard transmission,? Why in the world am I supposed to 'change' the gears that's what the transmission is there for, especially in an around town average speed at about 11mph or thereabouts, ask a bus driver, a taxi driver, even a bloody great bin lorry all auto transmission?. As reviews go not bad at all mr. well done can I say!..
