As soon as Chris Tucker came into the film, I was totally hooked. My late mum loved this film so much, we’d repeat dialogue to each other at random times, like “big badda boom” and “multi pass”, and “help meee” the way Leeloo says it. This film gave us so much joy and I’m so happy watching you enjoy it. Chris Tucker was a little inspired by Prince with the character of Ruby Rod, which makes it even funnier. The Diva’s song is exquisite 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️

Ruby was based on singer prince who was known to look gay but was heterosexual. By the way the director of the movie was to the opera diva but then divorced ber to marry leeloo. The opera dive was only 16 when she got married
@ohauss

Not only that, Besson had knocked Maiwenn (the Diva) up pretty much immediately - probably why he married her in the first place. And then he started making out with Milla while they were shooting the movie... I love the movie, but when I think of what Besson was up to behind the camera, I feel like I have to throw up.

This is one of my fave 90’s Bruce Willis films. This, Death Becomes Her, Armageddon, Sixth Sense, Pulp Fiction, & the early Die Hard’s. Ruby is definitely my fave character! Did you notice Ian Holmes (RIP) aka the original Bilbo Baggins as the Priest? Milla Jovovich went on to have a success career most notably the Resident Evil series.

The Fifth Element is the bright and flashy antidote to the Science Fiction shows and movies that have a grim and /or poor outlook on humanity's future. In general, a positive vision for what's to come. And honestly, Chris Tucker and Gary Oldman steal the show.

I think with Ruby Rod and other similar men in the film, the idea was that in the future there will be a contingent of men who are extravagant and flamboyant that also get down with women • a sort of inversion of common practice So glad u made your way to this film. It takes a certain level of courage to do lots of things that humans did. Discovering the world, exploration, handling and documenting dangerous animals. I run Call of Cthulhu tabletop games for my friends, and those games are set in the 1920s. We usually research stuff pertaining to that time period, or before. Did you know that there was a female Victorian explorer who wasn't well off, so she actually explored countries without proper clothes? She wore normal Victorian wear. She walked on foot around the countries she was exploring. And she usually did it by herself. Humans are kind of crazy, when you think about it. The waking universe looking back on itself.

The editing in this movie is some of the best I've ever seen. The way it just bounced between multiple characters and kept everything flowing so well. The only flaws to me are, Korban Dallas never has any sort of confrontation with Zorg, and he never gets his hands on that gun. Rubu Rodd is such an entertaining sidekick.

"If we can't take care of this planet..." I feel you, there. If we're always running away from the consequences of our actions here, we'll just repeat the same issues at the next destination. It's the same story of colonization, first spread across Europe, then across the globe, and now into space. Everything we need to save ourselves is right here. Always appreciate your thoughtful reflections.

I watch some of your movies over a few times before new ones. I’m autistic. New things are sometimes stressful JUST because they are new. In 50 years old. That does not “wear off” . I’m still autistic. So with a new movie I sometimes only listen and cook or do a task. I do that once or twice. Half listening. Then when I sit down to watch I don’t have surprises……I enjoy all of your reactions and the visuals I missed. Without anxiety…even if it is a violent or horror movie. It’s literally the circuit hardwired to receive “new” ALWAYS causes anxiety. This is pretty common in autistic people….but we are not monolithic. We are not all the same. Some autistic people go from new to new and love it. That’s why we call it “on the spectrum” The spectrum is not better and worse. It’s not more capable and less capable. That’s not what the word means. Think of a pie chart. Every piece of a pie is a aspect of autistic experience. Executive function is a piece. Sensory sensitivity is a piece. Trouble with sudden change is a piece. Verbal language expression is a piece. Non verbal language expression is a piece. And so on. How much of a piece from each slice do we contain? Exhibit? That’s the spectrum. Not better or worse…which pattern do we make? Each category can be a very different range of ability. You exist on a spectrum of ability as well. Only autistic people often need accommodation to live well, and you probably need less accommodation….so you don’t evaluate your own spectrum of ability in as much detail.

My first view of this great film was pre-release test marketing at a science fiction convention. I enjoy it every time I watch it, and I've watched it a lot over the years. Luc Besson wrote/directed this masterpiece. Was panned when it first came out, but now it's a cult classic. Love that the priest calling Bruce Willis by his actual surname and Bruce correcting him to 'Dallas' was kept in the film. 20 years later, Besson comes up with the next-level release "Valarian and the City of a Thousand Planets". Another story knocked out of the park. Also bad critical/public reviews at first, but the cult following continues to grow. Also a great film and well worth reacting to on your channel (Please?). If you liked "5th Element" you'll love "Valarian...".
