People complain about the Stephen King trope of "The Randomly Psychic Child," but with Ellie, I can kind of see what they were going for. After Judd teaches Ellie about the pet cemetery, she starts having dreams relating to the events of the film, like Louis "doing something really bad." I think that the respect for the dead Judd instilled in Ellie allowed her to be a sort of conduit for supernatural forces, sending warnings through her. This kind of thinking can be seen with other characters. Louis's visions of Pascow after seeing him die, and Rachel's fear of death making her connection hazy, feeling Pascow's presence but only faintly. I realize I'm reaching, but it makes more sense than the blind girl in The Langoliers suddenly becoming Daredevil by comparison. This is easily my favorite Stephen King film. The performances are top notch, and the book is adapted remarkably well.

FirstPersonShane that is good interpretation. I think the Langoliers needs a remake though. The effects look bad

Ellie's respect for the dead and her supernatural link is also what allows her to be the only character to survive in the end, just to make a note.

Rachel when she comes back to life seriously gave me Silent Hills P.T. Lisa vibes. With the fixed grin, gouged eye, off canter walk via the missing heel, and overall appearance of a corpse/ghost. The resemblance is kind of uncanny.

Nekhet the way I interpreted it was that evil is one thing, like a solid entity, that the surfaces in different ways. Like evil is a monster and all the different problems are it’s tentacles ya know? My main point ways that op wasn’t wrong and there is more connections than just being in the same universe. But there are so many ways to interpret it which is why I love his stuff so much.

I think the implication is that Zelda possessed Gages body, that's why she appears before Gage kills his mum/Zeldas sister. I always took it that evil spirits would possess the bodies buried in the Indian burial ground and that's why they came back evil and not themselves.

Under the arc of a weather stain boards, Ancient goblins, and warlords, Come out of the ground, not making a sound, The smell of death is all around, And the night when the cold wind blows, No one cares, nobody knows. I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary, I don't want to live my life again. I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary, I don't want to live my life again. Follow Victor to the sacred place, This ain't a dream, I can't escape, Molars and fangs, the clicking of bones, Spirits moaning among the tombstones, And the night, when the moon is bright, Someone cries, something ain't right. The moon is full, the air is still, All of a sudden I feel a chill, Victor is grinning, flesh rotting away, Skeletons dance, I curse this day,

Supposedly Pet Sematary, as in the song by The Ramones, was written shortly after King had invited the band to his home and handed them a copy of Pet Sematary lol. I reckon it must have been quite the fan honour to have a band he liked write a song inspired by one of his books.

I actually don't like the way they handled Gage's death in the film, moreso the timing of it. In the novel the kite flying scene is what Luis describes as his last really good day, and the bonding between him and Gage during the whole thing is very sweet and powerful, so combining that scene with the accident just completely ruined it IMO.

A lot of King stuff is linked in some way. For example most of his books take place in Maine either in or around the town of Derry like Needful Things and It for example both take Place in Derry. I be honest, just to me, I am completely detach myself from all the deaths in the movie. Some of the serious death scenes, I be very honest, I laugh like I never laugh before, I just feel like that. But overall the movie is great, the settings and the locations are spark me on, the characters, meh.

As in, why did Louis kill him? To "undo" the mistake he made by bringing him back in the first place.

Not to mention that he's not exactly happy being undead--best to put him out of his misery.

It's sad when you realize all this could have been avoided if the people would have built a Fence keeping Pet's and kids out of the road

Only in theory. Gage's death wasn't an accident--the burial ground made him die. If having him wander into the street didn't do it, it probably could have used some other method.

Maybe but It would have been harder to kill Gage since he wouldn't be able to walk out onto the road and it seems as though the semetary only has power over people if their aware of it, say seems because I haven't read the book so i might be wrong, also it seems Jude is partially to blame since he's the one who showed Lewis how to perform necromancy using the burial ground. those are a few thoughts I had while watching the movie.

Great second half to your review...but I must disagree w/ you concerning your take on how the Timmy Baterman scenes from the book 'might now have translated well onscreen'...I can TOTALLY see Timmy standing in his yard, the red sunset light bathing him while Jud and his friends listened to him hoarsely whispering the evil secrets he knew about them all...it would have been terrifying, haunting...and far more memorable than the cheesy shambling mess that was Timmy in the movie... Still, your review was top notch, and most appreciated...well done, and keep up the great work... By the way, have you done a review of the movie adaption of The Mist yet? (Off to check your channel...;)
