It's been said before but it bears repeating - Guards don't get enough love. If, as some seem to suggest, Nelson truly is the second coming of John Hannah, then he could be the steal of the draft.

Brett, I just want to say that anyone can have an opinion and talk about football, but what truly sets a football analyst apart is when they can break down the offensive line. Being an offensive lineman myself well done my friend I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video and I love you even more that you pointed out no team can be good in the NFL without an offensive line. I'm a huge Denver Broncos fan and I really wished Quenton Nelson would have been taken by us. I look forward to binging your content!

Brett, your analysis is truly appreciated. As someone who has never played a snap of football knowing the ins-outs of an offensive lineman is very difficult for me to understand. You do a great job of making it very simple to follow and even bringing up the fact that he is "balanced" and disciplined instead of just a huge monster of brut force. keep up the great work
@ianwells9256 жыл бұрын
As a highschool offensive lineman, this video is a godsend. There are some things that coaches talk about like leaning that are kind of abstract ideas, but having a comprehensive breakdown of interior line technique is so so helpful

Let's go through the list Brett, as Texans fans. Only as good as your back-up QB: Tom Savage, TJ Yates... Ouch Strengthen your Strengths: Eh, we used to have a defense, maybe we'll draft some secondary Good O-line: No. Not at all. I miss when we had a chance at winning
@BrettKollmann6 жыл бұрын
Hence why I said we are only as good as our backup lol. When Deshaun came in as our "backup", we started winning. Then Savage was the backup and got back in, and we started losing. Either way, you are always only one injury away from having to tank a season with Savage under center, so that's something that needs to be fixed.
@one_of_wun6 жыл бұрын
Evelyn Carpenter Good year for backup QBs tho. Kyle Lauletta, Mike White, Kurt Benkert all options
@TheNightOwl116836 жыл бұрын
Unless Lauletta goes earlier than expected. I'm already seeing mid to late 3rd round on him in mock drafts. I hope he falls far enough for the Texans to roll the dice on him
@ameliaburton53136 жыл бұрын
TheNightOwl11683 Why draft a young guy when we have bigger issues?
@TheNightOwl116836 жыл бұрын
Evelyn Carpenter Because like Brett said, you're only as good as your backup QB, & we saw how bad the Texans looked without Watson. Besides, if he turns out to be good, he could be flipped for draft picks later.

i think we need more tackle then guard. but if we had him we could shift over reiff or remmers maybe, so thatd be awesome. it also kind of depends, we ran alot of screens last year which was perfect for our smaller line, elflien easton and whoever else were great picks for those screens, so who knows.
@SnackMuay6 жыл бұрын
brandon clobes Reiff and Remmers at tackle are less of a liability than Easton/Sirles and a soon-retiring Berger. It would be nice I’d tackle were addressed, but I think Guard is the more immediate need.

Brandon Scherff was the last top 5 guard drafted, in 2015
@BrettKollmann6 жыл бұрын
Eh, that one is kind of borderline because he was seen as a right tackle or a guard, not necessarily a pure guard. Technically Luke Joeckel at 2nd overall in 2013 is a guard now too, but he was a tackle in college.
@StuJ36 жыл бұрын
Only reason Scherff never played tackle was because of the emergence of Morgan Moses in training camp, but Scherff has never taken a snap at Tackle either. I can see both sides.
@alfarabi736 жыл бұрын
Scherff played OT in college, and he was projected by many as an RT. It's the same point I made regarding Leonard Davis. He played LT in college, and not quite a few folks projected him to remain at OT in the NFL as well. I don't recall anyone this good who played only OG in college. And I've been watching college football for a very long time.
@aviationjohn6 жыл бұрын
well brandon scherff is also looking like an all-pro
@O12port7996 жыл бұрын
I thought I remembered him being talked about as a guard in the pros in the same way Connor Williams is for this class by some analysts, but Brett is right in that he wasn't a pure guard like Nelson. For Williams it may be a smokescreen by some teams to drop his value and let them nab him later.

Even if I wasn't a 9er fan, I would still be very interested to see what the 9ers front office will do this draft. They have a great coach, great front office, they likely have a really good franchise QB and good energy. I'm sure they'll pull off some nice moves in this year's draft

Brett Kollmann Sutton would be a nice pick for the Niners, we need a big bodied WR for Jimmy G to go to. WR is priority, but I don't feel it's top priority. But that's just my opinion lol. I feel lynch will have a good draft plan either way!
