I can tell that Auri was very conflicted here. It’s obvious that the tenants were taking advantage of her and telling her different stories to try to get her to go there. I know she enjoys the cleaning, but I’m pretty sure she’s a little miffed that she was lied to and taken advantage of regardless, it’s great that she was able to help the landlady. Can you imagine an eighty-year-old woman trying to clean all of that.

I agree, it’s hard to have empathy for people who use and mistreat you. Not only did they lie to Auri, but they got out of paying for any damages to the home, which is just terrible. Elizabeth didn’t deserve to have tenants like that, and she even had to pick up after them when they finally left. Auri is so nice but I can say they are terrible human beings!

I'm going to play devil's advocate here. I'm in no way excusing the actions of Sophie. Obviously, she has a serious mental health problem, and there is a huge stigma behind mental illness so many are afraid to come forward and ask directly for help. Then there's the fact that in most countries the mental health care sucks. So maybe that is a small part of the problem here.

The lies, neglect, disrespect, and irresponsibility makes my blood boil, hoarder or not. If I walked into that second mess after Auri visited, I'd call someone to drag the renters out of my home. I suffer from hoarding disorder and I've figured the key to managing it is allowing yourself to hoard but set a physical/numerical limit. I have a box cornered in a room (it's an average-sized box; if I empty it I could sit in it like a cat :) ), and whenever I can't bring myself to throw something away, I put it in the box. The items in the box are: empty yet cleaned glass jars with lids on, folded plastic bags, some smaller boxes, some plastic plates and containers, some clothes and kitchen items I don't use anymore, papers with only one side written on them, and some half broken/half done DIY projects I haven't had the time to get into. If at any point the box reaches its limit and I wanna hoard more, my rule is that I have to get rid of some of the items to make room for the new ones. Also really important: every item must be thoroughly cleaned before going into the box of shame (yep, that's what I've named it). No nastiness allowed. Ridiculous isn't it? But hey, if it works it works.
@hannabohlin9410
@hannabohlin9410 9 ай бұрын
That is such an amazing solution! Here comes some completely unsolicited advice (sorry in advance!!): Maybe you would feel even better about the box if you named it something less negative? I would have named my box The Unknown if I needed one, because the reason I would put stuff in it is because I wouldn't yet know if I could need the item in the future, but I also can't keep it laying about in my house. So the items are "unknowns". I would also impose another rule. Not only am I not allowed to keep more things than the box has space for, but I'm also supposed to keep the box full at all times. That way I would elimit the shame for when I needed to put anything in. (This is a technique I use with children a lot, setting them a limit of some sort but encouraging them to go right up to the limit to reduce shame of going too close to it. It also reduces their need to rebell and break the limit.). Then The Unknown would become this ever changing, almost living thing, where the contents cycle around whenever something new is introduced. And when something old is cycled out, it has had time to been proven to either have been useful to me or not, which means it's not unknown anymore, so then I can say bye with confidence. I have never had a hoarding issue, just tendencies, so please feel free to ignore this or ask me to delete.

Pro cleaning companies that specialise in hoarder messes with faeces and mould etc have staff who wear full body protection and high protection filters, not paper masks. The poor landlord. I'm glad she called animal control and Auri was so kind to clean the home and at least restore it to a semblance of what Elizabeth and Maya remembered. Also it's super good for them to see good people doing good things and not just two people taking advantage of them and destroying memories. Auri, your kindness towards Elizabeth and telling their story probably is incredibly uplifting for both her and her daughter. Thanks for doing this for Elizabeth and Maya

I usually empathize with the people living in the apartment, but this time I was stunned at what they did to Elisabeth's house. And then claimed it wasn't their fault.. They have mental health issues, but they also did something bad here, by lying to the homeowner, and also neglecting their poor dogs. "Elisabeth and her daughter were cleaning the yard and Sophie was sitting outside drinking coffee"... Sorry what? She just sat there while they were cleaning up HER mess? That's so.. wow.

this is the first time I feel really angry at the residents in one of Auri's videos. the fact that their dogs had to be taken away is a HUGE red flag. Auri's had other residents with pets, and if there was one thing you could always tell in those videos, it was that they still cared for their pets despite the chaos in the house. no excuse for neglecting pets to the point where they are taken from you. this couple is clearly dealing with mental health issues (deflecting the blame about the state of the house back to the landlord, for example, is despicable but clearly a symptom of the larger issue), however... there is a point where "mental illness" becomes just an excuse. I really struggled, for the first time as I said, to sympathise with these tenants even in the first video... but then, on top of all that, finding out that they lied to AURI about why they needed the house cleaned? this is just a systemic pattern of taking advantage of others and skirting responsibility. bottom line is... fundamentally bad people can have mental health issues while also doing bad things independently of their mental illnesses! and mental health issues do not absolve you of any and all personal accountability. I'm very happy that in the end Auri was able to help the landlord more than anything.

A lot of bad mental health come from not having a clean home- often times we put a check list and want to get to it - that check slot can pile high unknowingly this happens even in a clean home with a garage or a cupboard they want to maybe get to the list goes on and the closets the extra storages etc- when you have your hoem clean it makes the difference:) you’ll feel yourself getting happier and lighter and the thoughts start going away - you feel more manageable with your time and also less unseen stress -:) maybe she was sent by he spirit who are in touch with the Holy Ghost:) she is awesome either way she is definitely sent from a loving place :)

You can really tell when a home is well built and has high quality materials because when the surfaces are cleaned, they look brand new again. With a lot of homes I see (I've only lived in the US), all it takes is one small tomato sauce stain or scuff or spot of mold on a linoleum floor, counter, or backsplash and that stain will be there forever no matter how much you try to clean it off.

But now, when I see dirt, I think like you; “wow, what fun”, “look at this lovely dirt”, “I can’t wait to deep clean this messy sink”. Beautiful!! We have had to move into what was once an abandoned old home for the winter ahead. I thought by now I’d be in my new, clean, brand new house by now. But due to COVID, supply chain issues, extremely huge price hikes, and hunting season, our build has changed so much and we are way behind. Without this rental, oddly enough, we’d be homeless. When I moved in, I was disgusted with the mess. But then I started to attack it like you. It’s a whole mental reset. It's weird that the tennants got away with claiming that the house was already destroyed when they moved in. Where I live the landlord and the future tennant go through the house/aparment and record any flaws. This is written down and becomes part of the rental contract. The same happens when the tennants move out. These records are then compared to prove if any damage was caused by the tennants.

In Germany, when you rent an apartment or house, you go through it with the landlord and all damages are noted on a specific form. I think those awful tenants wanted the house cleaned so that they could pretend everything was normal and that any damage was already there. Does the landlord have photos, an appraisal, or video of the property before the renters moved in? Maybe the landlord can sue the tenants for damages. I have a hard time feeling any sympathy for these tenants, because they did not help and they lied to the landlord!
@Yoarashi
@Yoarashi 2 жыл бұрын
The landlord would have to be able to prove with photo/video evidence that the house was not in this condition before the tenants moved in. Not only are older folks usually not great with tech like digital cameras, but they also tend to fail to even imagine a situation where they might need such a thing. Her generation of Finns grew up in post-war poverty and took nothing for granted, so treating one's own home like this would likely be inconceivable to her.

Can definitely sue them, especially by showing this video, those people dont even know how to wipe their ass so they stand no chance in defending themselves, nobody will believe them, the tenants will have to prove it was like this when they rented it and nobody is going to believe that they rented something for 800 dollars per month that was already trashed, the judge will question them on why they would rent a trashed home for that expensive if they could have rented a perfectly well home for even less and they would not be able to have a believable answer on that

This situation looked really scary 😳 I have two points. My heart goes out to Elizabeth, she did her best to check on the house, but kept getting blocked out. She even helped clean their mess while she just sipped on coffee. That's taking advantage of kindness. On the other hand, it was a win win situation for Sophie and her gf, free clean up (5 years worth), free pack up, free waste services, and more space open for hoarding- if they weren't caught by Elizabeth, they probably would have never moved out. Them taking advantage over your kindness shouldn't matter, because to me you did a great service for Elizabeth and her family. They're the ones who deserve it not Sophie and her gf, they need to get some serious mental health and hopefully learn to be kind to themselves and others

As a tip for those stains in plastic, there actually IS a way to minimize them or even eliminate them completely depending on their severity. It's useful for any kind of stained plastic, from rust spots on vinyl to mold spots on plastic to spaghetti stains on Tupperware to simple yellowing with age on old computer casings. Hydrogen peroxide gel with a 12% concentration (the kind used to bleach hair in salons) can be swabbed onto the stain, and then if the item or area is treated overnight with a UV lamp, the stain diminishes significantly. Sometimes it can take up to 3 days to minimize a particularly bad stain, with re-application of the peroxide every 12 hours. It's a tip I've learned from different restorationists in both the toy and the technology restoration communities.

@@charityszakel2794 Good question! I don't know exactly what kind of plastic laminate that stuff is, but as with every cleaning chemical it's good to do a spot test on the surface in a place away from usable/visible surfaces. The peroxide is unlikely to melt the countertop but it's important to be sure, especially if you're renting. If the hair dye has soaked in, the UV may not help reduce the intensity of the stain, but if you gently agitate the surface of the stain with a scrubber (or lightly scrape the surface with a scraper) that can open up fresh pores and make it easier for the peroxide to penetrate and do its job.
