If Aang had killed Ozai, it would've been the Avatar State that won. Because he was able to come out of it, regain control of his body, and be true to his morals/himself, Aang was the winner of that battle. He was able to save the world but be true to his beliefs and his heart; the lion turtle gave him the loophole lol The last Agni Kai between Zuko and Azula was freakin' beautiful. From the gorgeous animation to the music, it always gives me chills. I feel like people forget that Azula is only 14. I do feel bad for her because she was raised by a cold-hearted, cruel man, and that's who she became. When her mother WAS around, she never connected with her, never showered her with love like she did Zuko. Azula had no choice in who she became, she was only ever surrounded by bad role models...She would've been completely different had Ursa or Iroh taken to her more. I mean, yes, there was genetics involved, but she would've overcome those with the right upbringing. I always cry at the end of this series, no matter how many times I watch it! This show teaches you so much about how you can shape your own destiny and you don't have to be tied to the pasts of your family, how to be compassionate, how to be open-minded to everyone, how governments can shape history to fit their agenda (The Headband episode), how we are all connected and we are all one people (The Guru episode), I mean I could literally go on forever haha... This show made a generation of woke kids and whenever I have my own children, I'm making them watch this masterpiece lol It's been such a great journey with you guys! I really hope you loved this show and I hope you're loving Korra!
@Andy-roid4 жыл бұрын
Old af, but I'd also add to your point that Aang was the one that incapacitated Ozai at the end, enough so that he couldn't bend or defend himself before Aang energy bended. I prefer it that way too.

Can I mention that Azula was actually a psychopath since the start and she DID have a choice on who she became? That is how you roar like an angry tigerdillo! Aang in the Avatar State while everything is shaking and all the elements coming to him like that was just epic. The music was also perfect in that moment. Katara's quick thinking in freezing herself and Azula was amazing!! Azula crying like a baby showed how broken she was in the end. Her father molded her into a powerful weapon he could use and in the end, she became a broken weapon. Azula's downward spiral into insanity was done so well. In the end, instead of feeling fear of her, all I felt for her was pity. How the mighty princess has fallen. With that said, I appreciated that Zuko and Katara didn't really cheer or celebrate after taking her down, because it was a very pitying and somber moment. You can see it on Zuko's face because in the end, that was still his little sister. Iroh symbolically burning the Fire Nation flag down so the Earth Kingdom could be free again was fantastic. When you think about it, his character arc can honestly be summed up in his trips to Ba Sing Se. He started off as a conqueror, then a refugee, and now as a liberator. Just simply fantastic! I know there are a lot of people who felt Aang not killing Ozai was a copout, but I found it both in line with the show's overall themes and messages as well as poetic in a way. This new era needs someone like Aang to lead it. Someone who showed kindness and mercy to even the most horrible of monsters. Ending an era of violence and bloodshed with kindness and mercy. Zuko's speech at the end was just beautiful. It was satisfying to hear him officially end the war as well as looking to the future as he and Aang herald in a new era. He's come a long way from that angry angsty teen that was at war with himself and the world. Sinply put, Zuko is character development and redemption arc done right! Can't believe your journey with ATLA has ended, but as one journey ends, another begins! Looking forward to LOK with you guys :)

It's been a year since this was made, but I just want to say that you guys really gave the finale the respect it deserved. I absolutely love how you guys were really the only folks who caught on to the significance of Aang choosing his own path. In essence, Aang had to become like our boy Sokka, who doesn't compromise with his ideals to reach his goal but rather thinks outside of the box to shape his own destiny; Aang's final element to master was sokkabending! This ending truly reflect how Uncle Iroh said to Zuko that the prince had to look inward and ask himself, "Who are you, and what do you want?" Thus, even though the Lion Turtle was a deus ex machina for the plot, it truly served as an allegory for Aang's unwavering spirit. Remember that "in order to bend another's will, your own spirit must be unbendable." This show taught me some lessons when I first watched it in elementary school, and it continues to teach me new things today. Bravo, Avatar Aang.

Azula and Ozai think in fundamentally different ways. Whenever you see Ozai’s reaction to something, he’s reacting as the problem comes along, usually with more harshness than necessary. Azula plans way ahead, acts on opportunities, plans for every possibility, and manipulates people and events to her advantage. In the end, she lost this methodical logic and becoming more like Ozai. Her decisions are now just like his. Her complete loss of control and planning comes in her final fight with Katara. Katara sees a grate with water running under it, lures her onto it, and uses the water to be able to defeat her. Under normal circumstances, Azula would be the one pulling a trick like this, and would have probably known about the water in advance and prepared for it. We never see Azula being taught much about actual ruling or ever taking an interest in what’s happening at the lower levels of the Fire Nation except when it directly impacts her. All we ever really see of Azula is her exceptional combat skills or using fear and misdirection to ruin her enemies and increase her power. The one time we see her at a war meeting, her contribution is to suggest genocide. Compare that with Zuko, who isn’t nearly as good as Azula at firebending and he’s incompetent at manipulation, but he is shown to grow to genuinely care about his people, he does listen to other people sharing their problems and at the same meeting his contribution is to analyze the problem and show an understanding of the Earth Kingdom. In other words all there really is to Azula is her abilities as a conqueror and nothing to her as a ruler. Zuko would be a decent ruler while Azula would be a disaster even if Mai and Ty Lee had stayed.

I know some people are angry at Aang for not killing the firelord which clearly means that they don't completely understand him as a character. Guru Pathik said, "in order to be a fully-realized avatar you have to be a fully-realized self first" That's why uncle Iroh said he was wise to choose love over power. What good is gaining power and losing your soul? As Ragnar Lothbrok said from Netflix's Vikings.. "Power is always dangerous, it attracts the worst and corrupts the best. Power is only given to those who are prepared to lower themselves to pick it up" It seems that a lot of the fandom doesn't quite get this yet. Anyway...love you reaction guys!!

I used to think Aang was a lil bitch for not killing Ozai. Now that I'm older, I realize that it's the only way it had to be. The Fire Nation killed his entire culture, wiped it out because it was "lesser." However, we know that you aren't a lesser person just because you are peaceful. The "strength equals greatness" mindset is the toxic Fire Nation one. Even in this final fight, Ozai repeatedly mocks Aang and, more importantly, his people, as being "weak." Aang refusing to kill Ozai wasn't weakness. It was him refusing to let the Fire Nation take his culture from him. No matter how hateful the world, how overwhelming the violent rhetoric spouted on all sides, Aang's refusal to give up on his people and their beliefs, beliefs that Ozai thought weak, dead, and useless, is the greatest and bravest act of defiance he could have done.

7:54 🎵 There goes my baby 🎵 I haven't heard the Usher/Charlie Wilson song in so long 🤣🤣🤣🤣. The first line in episode 1: It's. The last line in the finale: Perfect.

I have always believed that that Momo is a reincarnation of Monk Gyatso he’s always looking it out for Aang even before facing Ozai he on his shoulders guiding Aang
