I could see something like this happening. A lot of the new characters spinning out of Metal seem to mirror some of Marvel's characters, for the better. A Galactus level character is something the DCU has never really had... at least not as noteworthy

DC is owning it right now. Marvel doesn't have a single book as good as DC's lineup right now. I'm reading no less than... 11... maybe 12 DC books on the regular since last year... Not including Metal and the tie-ins. Marvel? I only read 1 or 2 books regularly from them. Typically Black Panther and whatever event is going on.

Hmm... I really like Dark Nights Metal a lot. I really like Thanos Quest a lot, too. And Infinity Gauntlet is pretty damn good, too. But I feel like Metal has a lot of ramifications we don't understand yet, and it was so insane! It kind of more insane than anything the Big 2 have done. Thanos has the legacy but Metal definitely has ingenuity. Time will tell about legacy but I gotta give it to Metal.

With all of this going on, the House of Heroes under attack, detective chimp being involved, the Ultima Thule being taken on a joy ride by Flash and company, AND the Overmonitor being kidnapped by Barbatos, wouldn't Nix Uotan be able to sense all of this? Plus I thought he was the last monitor and this one died in Crisis on Infinite Earths, so when did that change? I liked the ending besides not seeing Nix even though he was heavily teased to possibly appear.

I was really bummed he wasn't the mystery man. No lie. With so many call backs to Final Crisis, Multiversity, and other Grant Morrison works, it was the clear choice. TBWL says the Over-Monitor regenerated at some point, but I didn't even think he could do that. But I guess if you're one of the most powerful being in the multiverse, anything is possible, but still. Sounds like some Doctor Who shenanigans to me. I'm hoping they reveal a little more of what was going on there.

Yeah it's definitely interesting. TBWL mentioned the Overmonitor regenerated since the "last" multiversal crisis but I'm not sure if he meant Final Crisis, Infinite Crisis, or maybe Flashpoint. Also maybe Darkseid War since Metron kinda foreshadowed it as a crisis but idk if it counts as one. But I'm excited how DC moves on from this with the Monitor back and if we see Nix back, how will things go between him and the overmonitor.

Its weird how DC's Crisis events work. I've given up trying to understand them all. They're all good, but damn they make my head hurt trying to piece together all the minutia of them. If Nix and the Over Monitor cross paths that book is going to break the DC Multiverse lol. I hope to god Grant Morrison comes back to write it because it would be insane. Parts of me wonders if Superboy Prime would come back some how. Or maybe we get a whole new line up of bad guys. I know DC is about the blow the dust off a bunch of old characters thanks to Metal. From what I hear, everyone working on a book at DC were begging to have ramifications for their books spun from this series.

I usually like Capullo‘s art and Snyder’s storytelling, but Dark Metal made Bruce to be a God, and it took a lot of his humanity away. It felt like lazy storytelling on both of the creator’s parts (the art was unclear at times, and the writing felt like Snyder wrote quick solutions for problems just to keep within 6 issues or filled in with unnecessary banter from the Batman who Laughs) and for DC to spread this storyline so thin to other books that I was confused if I wanted to only pick up this story alone. I was excited when the book came out but halfway through I ended up dreading this commitment.
