@bdavis12758 Thanks so much, Brian! When we set out on our KZbin journey, we didn't intend to be an LS swap channel. We've always loved will it run's and anything mechanical, but we realized there was a huge void of information and a lot of misinformation about these swaps. It is not as hard or as expensive as a lot of folks make it out to be, and we want to spread the word. LS swaps aren't for everyone, but they do play a big part in keeping these vehicles on the road, and we're all for that! That being said, there are a lot of ways to skin a cat, and a lot of ways to swap an LS, but hopefully showing our methods and our experiences will help keep more classics on the road for generations to come. We appreciate all your support! --Emily and Jerry

Best way to do these swaps IMO is as many OEM parts as possible. True driver.
@UglyTruckExperience Жыл бұрын
We agree! We make our swaps to be driven, and drivers will eventually need new parts. Some of the swaps we see are so complicated, and we always think, "what happens when one of those 5 companies you bought parts from goes out of business?" As long as there are 2004 Yukon's on the road, this swap will still be cruising! Thanks for tuning in, Bear! --Emily and Jerry

@@UglyTruckExperience Exactly how I build my cars. "If I break down, can I get parts in the middle of nowhere?". Owned too much stuff that had custom or low-volume stuff. Constantly back-ordered, long lead times, or whatever. Can't drive em if you can't get parts for em.

First and foremost I want to say Thank You to Emily and Jerry for taking such great care of my truck. The care, passion and attention to detail went way beyond my expectations. The truck handles and drives outstanding and the engine bay is incredible. Exactly what I wanted, an LS swap that looked like it came from the factory, so happy with it! A great part of this build is the trust and friendship that has been built throughout this process. I am very proud to have an "Ugly Truck" build and I will proudly let everyone know. Now the only problem is all of my kids want to drive it. I told them Emily and Jerry said it takes at least two years to break it in! Thank you guys. I have learned alot and am able to plan my swap better. I was able to make a stand alone harness from my Crown Vic so that when I install my Ls3 I will be able to have all of my factory gauges working. The only problem was the speedo. Dakota Digital makes a converter box ( SHI-100BT) for the speedo and tach. It's only $115. ( at the time I post this). I have found where my MIL wire goes from my Ford outer to the dash so I can jump the Gm outer to it so UT will work in my dash. And ALOT of other stuff. And it's because of you guys. I would not have tried any of this stuff if you hadn't shown you drawn schematics and explained it so well. You guys are great.

Beautiful truck, best selling point is one I always try to incorporate in an engine swap: stock replacement parts! I love being able to go in to get a replacement alternator, starter, trans filter, etc at a local parts house, no matter where you are. Not everyone lives next door to Summit or a JEGS outlet. Plus, I build cars and trucks to be DRIVEN! Every build, I consider “where can I get an alternator belt if I need one on a Sunday?”. I drive Nor Cal to South Texas a couple times a year, and up to Spokane, Wa often too. Be prepared, son! That’s my motto… Happy Thanksgiving

Love following the build. I was wondering if you drilled a steam port into your water pump or not . I'm swapping a 99 5.3 into my 79 k10. I'm marrying it to sm465 manual. Wasn't sure if I had to drill a steam port into my water pump or not. I'm using original radiator and overflow.
@UglyTruckExperience Жыл бұрын
Hello Iggy. We have never done that but have seen it done. If the water pump failed in the future, you would have to go through the trouble of drilling it again. A long time Alexis. A little over a year. When we first got going on this our intention was to put engine and transmission in without rebuilding. They both needed rebuilt which added a bunch of time. We wanted to video every step in the process, so we would film the video and then I would work on another project in the mean time while Emily edited the video which usually takes her about 4 days. When we do one without video, it takes a couple months to do a nice job not figuring in the time waiting on the machine shop. Thanks for watching. We really appreciate it. Jerry and Emily

I recently found your channel and have been binge watching your ls builds. AMAZING work!! I have a 1993 GMC Yukon 2dr 4x4. I want to do a similar build, but with a 6.2/L94 and a 6l80. What would cost including parts and labor (ball park)? Or what in your option is the best engine trans combo to generate 400hp/400tor and still be a daily driver without a turbo or supercharger?
@UglyTruckExperience7 ай бұрын
Hello Kenan. With that 6.2 You would probably be close to that 400 hp mark with a mild cam and good exhaust. The 6l80 transmission is longer and will require moving the transfer case back and custom driveshafts. Would be cool but much more expensive than putting a 4l60 in it. When this truck left, the total bill was somewhere around 13 grand. Each one is different of course. A lot of it depends on what we end up paying for the donor motor and transmission and a 6.2 and 6l80 are getting a pretty good price these days. We really appreciate you watching the channel. Thanks. We changed the rear gears to 3.08 to 1 and put a limited slip differential carrier in it. We also put a nice set of wide tires on it that hook up nice.
