your theory about the echoes of time crystal being the great crystal hit by the meteor would also explain why we don't know where the echoes of time region is in the og. its the unknown element miasma region. few thousand years and the miasma altering the landscape would also explain the changed look kinda.

crystal chronicles has been very special to me ever since i was a super young kid even though i could never get past the first area in the gamecube game. i played echoes of time for the first time a few years back and really enjoyed it, tho i definitely think i would like ring of fates way more since i play games for the story. i never knew how deep the lore for this series ran, i should try and give it a shot again now that i'm an adult with a fully developed frontal lobe

Ring of Fates is still the only CC game that truly engaged me since I'm definitely a story and narrative first kind of person. The first game didn't really have a story, and Echoes didn't really have a protagonist. Ring of Fates told a very character driven story that really hooked me as a kid and I still remember it fondly. That being said, I never got around to playing Bearers, but I've heard good things about it.

Echoes of Time was my most played DS game to the point that I memorized all the puzzles and did some speedruns for fun. I wish SQEX eventually revisits Crystal Chronicles or even port Ring of Fates and Echoes of Time to the switch at least.

I betcha porting Echoes of Time wouldn't be that hard today. Just port the Wii version and map the pointer to the right analog stick. RoF might be a little harder with the tribe gimmicks but maybe they can just redo them a little?

Honestly, trying to play the Cu Chaspel fight solo on my old DS copy with a high level character was the nail that decided "I'm not doing all that just to get footage of flavor text & alt costumes I won't use for this video"😂

i never beat it (single player, stuck on final boss before giving up) but her interactions with the ghost princess was so funny, not to mention with that dude in town as well.

I only played Crystal Chronicles on gamecube and it was odd but nice. i never quite got to the end. Bought the remaster on PS4/5 but never really played it. Its weird, i think there's something there for sure, but its a bit clunky. But the music... the music... good lord is the music just such a vibe and nostalgic and wonderful. Honestly top tier.

I've played both the ds games by borrowing them from a friend and I loved them so much.. by how I've always looked at it I've seen the bravely default series as a successor

Oh yeah, of course. Editing it as I type. Unless there's stuff I end up cutting then it will end up as the longest part. It should release around the end of the month or start of next month. It's the only one I never played as a kid and I ended up with a lot of thoughts. Plus I wanted to wrap up my thoughts on the sub series as a whole.

The best thing from the crystal chronicles games is My life as a King, honestly. For what it was, it was really fun. The DS games felt undercooked.

When dolphin for once managed to allow gba connectivity, it was a glory to finally try out FFCC, and personally, lived the experience, even if it wasn't the best. I tried echoes of time, but by then I knew no one who wanted to play. While I have a 3DS, and all, no one wanted to try. I'd melon DS finally let's netplay work and you upscale the models and maybe with a mod to replace textures, I might manage to convince people to play. I still doubt it

We had a gamecube not a ps2 at the time got so excited to play final fantasy on gc we had 1 gba mine be a while before we got a 2nd but man good memories with my brother going thru the first one and beating it i never played ring of fates i didnt bother getting a ds way way latter in its life i went for a psp my brother had a ds and i saw ring of fates never bother tho cuz i got echos of time day 1 on the wii lol cuz i didnt have a ds

I've played a lot of SF(mainly 3&4) but not 6 yet. I wanna get into it. I'm gonna have to move to Viet Nam later this year to get married and I'll stay there the next few years, so that'd probably be a good time to get into it. Especially since the first DLC wave will be done by then On my 2 visits to VN so far, I found way more KoF machines in arcades. Not always the best shape, but usually that's what I played more.

It is definitely held back a bit by being that type of game with DS specs. Though I will give it props for being more aware of the limitations. When i went back to Re:Coded and 358/2 Days recently, the lack of a camera REALLY irked me. Which gave me some appreciation for the slant angle in RoF & EoT.

​@@NovaZoneTV what do you mean lack of camera in 358? There are two different camera control setups. If you are in setup 1 then you have the ability to lock on, fix camera behind roxas with shoulder button, and lastly the bottom screen is used for free camera. Setup 2 uses lock on, removes the fix behind function, and replaces it with a free cam accessed by using either shoulder button. This second setup makes you use both shoulder buttons simultaneously to access your shortcuts, which is slightly more awkward on an original DS. It, however, frees your right thumb from the bottom screen which allows you to never stop using your command menu.

When you say GameCube JRPG people don't think Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles...but it did in fact outsell Tales of Symphonia, both Baten Kaitos games,Fire Emblem Path of Radiance,Skies of Arcadia Legends and Phantasy Star Online Episodes I,II and III. But JRPGs are niche you might say...Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles outsold Resident Evil 0,Pikmin 2,Mario Golf Toadstool Tour,Metroid Prime 2 and Star Wars Rouge Squadron 2 and 3. Even when you compare it to PS2 JRPGs excluding Final Fantasy X,X-2&XII,Star Ocean 3,Dragon Quest 8 and Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2...Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles OUTSOLD THEM ALL.
