I was 3 when this stadium was demolished. Would have loved to experience a game there

I was a freshman in High School. I remember watching it, and feeling emotional. Now 23 years later, we are fighting to keep our Milwaukee Brewers with the needed finances to renovate American Family Field (formerly Miller Park) so the Brewers can call it home at least through 2050. And I hope lawmakers get a fair deal done very soon. #SaveOurCrew🔵🟡⚾

My final game was a 4-2 victory over the Cardinals in Sept 1999 No disrespect to the finale at County Stadium but I’m glad I left there with a Brewers victory But cool to see footage of this game and a memorable celebration there

If it’s a beautiful day, I would rather be sitting in Country Stadium over being at Am Fam.

Good old county stadium. Was my home away from home.😊

Brewers fans just don’t have that connection with outdoor baseball anymore. Say what you want about April weather, rain, etc- baseball is meant to be played outdoors. County Stadium wasn’t the best looking stadium by any stretch, but it had character.

All baseball games should be played outdoors on natural grass.

I agree. I went to a game at the new stadium and found it boring and without charactor...And the roof was open. We left early.

Yeah, because its so fun to buy tickets and make plans just to have the game rained out.

@@mds1171 I don’t think that’s as bad as it used to be. Sometimes you can’t prepare for inclement weather, but for the most part people have more access than ever to weather radar and 7 day forecasts to prepare for different things.

I was there for this game and was in eighth grade, I think. I miss these days when there weren't endless cheers and songs and gimmicks to fill the time between pitches and batters and innings.

It’s insane that County Stadium was never upgraded with a color Jumbotron…apparently that scoreboard remained the same from the early 80’s to the stadium’s closure.

Or a DiamondVision. Probably couldn't afford one.

By the time that was thought about was when they were discussing replacing the stadium. Would have been a waste of money by that point. On a nice summer day was a great place to go to a game. April and October not so much.

. Yeah.....if I remember correctly (and I may not), I think the Brewers bought and installed that INCREDIBLY crummy new County Stadium scoreboard, just a year or two before the boards with the newer color technology QUICKLY started becoming much cheaper (though I seem to remember the Dodgers already having had a color scoreboard when we got ours....though possibly there may have been a few others, too.....not sure about that), resulting in the color boards QUICKLY becoming the norm with the new stadiums being built, and in those older stadiums, like ours, when upgrading their old, out-dated scoreboards.......long story short, because of bad timing on the Brewers part, they "upgraded" at just about the worst point in time that they could have......thus saddling us fans with a scoreboard that was out of date from (almost) that first year it started being used. The good news ?? Because we as fans had had NOTHING in the way of ANY video at County Stadium prior to that, the HORRIBLY AWFUL "resolution" of that "black & white" board (which was actually black & beige, and NOT black & white!) actually didn't seem that bad at all......but only for MAYBE that first season. Within a couple of seasons, we realized that we were stuck with that AWFUL 'buggy whip' of an outdated screen, and just learned to live with it. Happily though, color was soon coming to Milwaukee when Miller Park finally opened in 2001........and something, to those who may also remember, that seemed like stepping into the COLOR Wizard of OZ world, from our old black and white world at old County Stadium !! 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈 .

@@sdne1959 and glad it came when it did as the stadium scoreboard maker was out of business so they were just bandaging that scoreboard at the end lol

Didn't the stadium have to stay open for one more year due to the crane falling down and damaging the under-construction park that was going to replace it ?

This game was after that incident, and indeed the final County Stadium game. Miller Park was supposed to open for the 2000 season but opened in 2001 instead.
