I feel like they should amend the tournament timer rules. Currently, it is without a doubt the best move for the top 6 players to BM and stall out as many games as they can for the last ~10 minutes or so. Less players climbing/wasting time on them means a better chance of holding your spot. Rules should be that any game started *before the end of the tournament* is counted for positional ranking. This means that top 6 players now have a choice: start a bunch of games to get last minute ELO, or start no games to try and protect their current standing. It is effectively a last-minute gamble, how much ELO can you squeeze in at the end? Now stalling out a ton of games is no longer optimal. You are punished if you bite off more than you can chew, but you are rewarded if you can win the games you do take. The only downside i can see is that you'd have to have a system to track which games started before the clock hits 0. But at least you arent rewarding borderline BM behavior in a fan-run tourny on a fan-run server.

MichaelderBeste casually coming online to play a single game to get first place back with a GXE of 95.1% is just insane to me.

He kinda lost a bit of respect from me today. He could have just not laddered anymore. But he timer stalled two games in the end. One of them being the last one we just saw. It was unnecessary and mean spirited.

@jakelowkeyk3y793 Michael's need or want of respect is irrelevant too their perspective that what Michael did was unnecessary and mean spirited. I love sucking dick too dont get me wrong it's a big part of my life, just let them believe he was being mean when he did that. All is well
@dssc8691
@dssc8691 Ай бұрын
@@ayo-whats-this It wasn’t unnecessary, as if somebody passed him in the last minutes he wouldn’t have enough time to queue and finish a new game, but by already being in the middle of a game, if somebody passes him, he can play quick and potentially regain the placement, but if nobody passes him, he can timer stall, so he’s just giving himself a chance to regain a lead at basically no risk. It is a bit mean-spirited as you can argue stalling is against the spirit of the game, but it’s what the ladder tournament format incentivizes, and you can’t expect people not to play strategically when there is money on the line just because it’s a bit mean spirited.

i was no way near the top 6 but i managed to hit top 100 which i'm pretty proud of (also i'm gonna ignore the fact that you stopped laddering so i can be smug about beating you by 14 elo lol), back in gen 8 my peak was 1500 i've learnt a ton from watching your videos. also here 16:04 i think the correct line was to go cyclizar first, that created a 50/50 where he could either draco the eel or double out on the chesnaught switch
@El_Kanto
@El_Kanto Ай бұрын
going cyclizar first would've definitely been the better play. there are some mindplays involved but if the eel stays in on the draco, lady writer wins if it's the leftovers set or if it's the av set with tera steel
@aldrichunfaithful3589
@aldrichunfaithful3589 Ай бұрын
@@El_Kanto i've been thinking about it too much and i'm getting confused now lol, but i'm pretty sure if he went cyclizar and clicked draco twice it was a guaranteed win actually, no matter what the opponent did eel would always end up in range of cc. i don't blame him for choking though it was a high stakes game with time pressure
@El_Kanto
@El_Kanto Ай бұрын
@@aldrichunfaithful3589blade couldve also sacd the chesnaught to the first draco which means drain punch and leftovers wouldve recovered him to full hp or let him coil to be safer against cc. at that point it sort of depends on cyclizars tera type but i wouldnt call it a guaranteed win.

Top 100 is especially impressive when there's this kind of tournament going on. You have all the top players grinding hard, getting momentum going which is incredibly effective in random battles cause at a certain point you just get rolling and the games tend to go quicker and you get a better feel for the calcs. Congrats on your top 100 finish!

Seeing that Michael had five accounts at the top of the leaderboard for a while, it would not surprise me if he also made several KZbin accounts to hype himself up in the comments. These people are actually nuts and it makes me feel like they aren't even real.

I do not understand how michael is just such a beast. You can be great at something. But this guy is like consistently NUMBER 1 on A RANDBATS ladder. Just proves you can pull the odds in your favor even in randbats. I just cant believe this guy is consistently number 1. Great to see pokevin here too. Go watch michael's and pokevin's channel. They are great too!

Rabdbats it's an information battle. Say, I start the game with regieleki, and you have Gyarados. You know that I am likely going to volt switch, so you will put a ground type to block me. If you switch to something like a torkoal, you are actively telling me you have no ground type. If you tera your Gyarados to ground, you tell you don't have a ground + you have no way to dispatch regieleki. But, you could intentionally let one of your mons take the blow to advance the match, get a 3 vs 3 situation and THEN you put a excadrill in front of my regi. In that moment, you likely know at least 1 more if not both of my team, and you get a free turn to spin/SD, being excadrill usually capable of taking 1 hit if not super effective. In that very instant, you won most of the times, just because you gave me wrong information. Same with items. Faking a scarf or bluffing moves can lead to terrible consequences

in my opinion this method is really lame the final game should count according to the CUE time as in(if you load a game in the last 10 seconds of the tour it should be the last game and it SHOULD count for the win) cause Ilex genuinely had a chance if that game counted
