I was there just mere months before the re-theme was announced, enjoying Splash without a care in the world. I was 99.9% certain Splash was safe and that Disney would never take it from us... And yet, here we are. It feels like such a spit in the face to fans, especially right after all the merchandise they released to celebrate the 30th anniversary. Seeing the attraction's final hours genuinely made me burst into tears. It felt like a nightmare. Make no mistake, this re-theme was not planned "years" before. This was corperate intervention. Disney should be ashamed.

It was a business move to try and market a movie they are desperately trying to cement as a new old time classic. No one was asking for the change, Disney made it up as part of the strategy to modernize the park with more newer movies and less reliance on the old ones.

After this ride closed almost a year ago, I am no longer upset about Disney’s decision, even though this ride meant a lot to mine and other’s childhoods, all good things come to an end at some point. As of the way Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is currently looking at WDW, I am very excited for what imagineering has to offer for us guests, and you all should be excited to. Farewell Splash Mountain, we all miss you, and will forever have memories of all our rides!

Well, I think the younger ones didn't even know what Song of the south was. That is, they could not even relate the ride to the racist film. For many, it was just a ride with a story. I watched the movie and loved the Uncle Remus stories, but that's just what I think. 🤷🏼

I can see why it was necessary and i can see a good reason to gut the ride and update it but it’s still sad. But all things must come to an end at some point. One war one dance and life goes on. So after Splash is transformed to Tiana's Bayou Adventure the boat ride feel is changing to canoeing on Louisiana Bayou and not rivers of Georgia (where Song of The South is set) anymore and the queue area will not resemble Phoenix, Arizona anymore as the ride's area is transformed to Southern Dome.

I’ve taken three trips to Disney world and the first two times I didn’t even know what the ride was about I thought it was kind of strange for Disney to make an original ride and one this prevalent in the park, it wasn’t until 2020 that I knew what the ride was about, we bought the movie and watched it, the only thing that’s racist about this movie is that is was made in a different time and things change in culture, slavery was wrong like disgusting and filthy, the movie at its core is not at all racist, it sickens me to think we’re losing an amazing ride to some woke person who didn’t like that a black person was in a movie.

I honestly don't think this ride closed because it was apparently based on a racist movie. It was incredibly dated, and in desperate need of a retheme. I think Disney figured "Now's the time to do it" and just happened to choose Princess and the Frog as a retheme. Do I agree with the decision of that movie? No. I do not. However I rode Splash Mountain once about 7 years ago and I'm not going to ride it again, even when it reopens.

You are wrong my friend, the source movie that the ride is based on is seen as a bit racist, however the ride itself moved on from the source and only recycled the non-racist animated portions... the ride itself isn't racist whatsoever and the reason it's celebrated like this is because many people grew up with Splash Mountain and created many nostalgic memories for it... Splash Mountain is also the most famous log flume in the world so there's that.
