For those curious, the FOR THE CHAPTER ability of Hellblasters does trigger off of hazardous. It says so in the official app. The FAQ is NOT a rules change, but rather a clarification that deaths to things like the grenades stratagem do not trigger the ability.

This felt a lot more like an old school game, like OLD school, 4th/5th/6th edition. Back when the force org charts, the relative fragility of armor (one Sergeant with a Power Fist could rip a whole Rhino apart in one go with decent rolling), and the points costs of elite units really pushed you to have oceans of troops (battleline) units on the board. Lots of plain ol' bolter shots and whatnot. Tak's Ultramarines in particular felt like an army you could absolutely have seen on a table circa 2006 or so, obviously without the modern Primaris units and suchly but their Firstborn equivalents.

Good thing that "For the Chapter" was changed by a follow up FAQ that said "No, Hellblasters do in fact shoot on death no matter the cause of the model death". Gotta love GW not knowing what they like for ability rules sometimes

I had the understanding that they can still shoot on death when they die via hazardous test, with the designer note on their ability to clarify that. The recent FAQ was to avoid them shooting on death when they die via coherency issues, failed desperate escape, etc. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The Hellbrute is actually easier now because the Melee focused classes actually have a ranged weapon that can do good damage to it which means they just have to focus on dodges and parries.

Pretty sure in the recent tournament FAQ, they clarified that Hellblasters can use their For the Chapter ability when Hazardous rolls fail. I'm sure this game was filmed between the two FAQ's. I know there was a lot of confusion around it.

The Hellblasters shoot on death thing was played correctly. It was poorly worded because it kinda goes against the previous ruling. What they tried to get rid of was being able to move someone or remove a model to break coherency, kill 8-9 models and try to shoot them on death.

“A group of Ultramarines, after thwarting a Tyranid invasion, discover a warp in the center of the battlefield to witness a swarm of Thousand Sons, their former brothers turned enemies. The Marines surround the loyal followers of Tzeentch. With the corners blocked, the Thousand Sons attack in all 4 directions with the Helbrute attacking the Dreadnought only to hurt itself to start things off. The Tzaangors easily wiped off the board before they could fight by the Infiltrators and Infernus Squad, and the Dreadnought damages the Helbrute even further and the Hammerfall Bunker destroying the HelDrake. Despite losing their mechanical dragon, the Chaos Space Marines retaliate by destroying their Repulsor and the Hammerfall Bunker while the Dreadnought and Helbrute fight like two Juggernaut sized boxers while barely standing, but the Dreadnought puts it’s Gatling gun in the Helbrute’s face, blowing it to bloody chunks before succumbing to it’s own wounds. With both sides losing their strongest machinery, both sides unleash hell on each other till the Ultramarines Captain swings his shield, sending the Exalted Sorcerer’s head flying off like a baseball. Despite there only being 4 remaining Scarab Terminators left they refuse to back down against the Ultramarines, killing many of them before all 4 Terminators die like honorable soldiers. The Captain acknowledges this before he and his remaining troops proceed in search of supplies before they continue their mission.”
