"The Final Trawl", performed by Archie Fisher (www.myspace.com/archiefisher) in concert at the Institute of Musical Traditions (www.imtfolk.org), Rockville, Maryland, USA on February 6, 2012.
Master guitarist, singer and songwriter Archie Fisher is Scotland's foremost troubadour and is known throughout the country as the host of BBC Radio Scotland's award-winning "Travelling Folk" show, which he has presented for over 25 years. Recognized for his contributions to Scottish folk music, he was inducted into the Scots Traditional Music Hall of Fame and in 2006 was awarded an MBE, (Distinguished Member of the British Empire) a prestigious honor nominated by his peers and bestowed by Queen Elizabeth for services to traditional music in 2007. The most recent recognition of his art came from the Goderich Celtic Roots Festival in 2008 when he was granted the Tradition Bearers Award. His current CD, Windward Away, has already achieved widespread acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic.

Born and bred in North Shields my dad filleted fish an uncle skippered a seine netter I roamed the fish quay, best days of my life, grown now and those days are long gone. Hard times but happy.

I first saw Archie in Liverpool, UK 1964. Thankfully, I've also seen him many times since then.

This is one of the greatest songs ever written. The version on Windward Away is astounding.

Beautiful song, Archie. I've heard Emily Smith and Garnet Rogers do great performances of this, too.
