One thing I like about this ending is that this is the power of universe 7: Trust. Trust, not friendship. Goku and Frieza are still enemies, but Frieza trusts that Goku will keep his word and Goku trusts that Frieza will act for self-preservation, which right now means winning the tournament. They don't need to like each other to trust each other, but they need to trust each other to win.

I would say no, because there is lots of different things. Every universe had a theme. Universe 2 was love, universe 11 was justice, etc. In the end, Jiren realizes that Universe 7's theme is Trust. Which is the lesson he needed to learn. I also really like how the Zeni's would have erased all of reality if a selfish wish was made. Because everybody predicted the wish would be to bring all the universes back and we hated that going into it because it means there are no stakes to it. But then the plot twist is that actually the stakes were real and they were even higher than we knew. That's how you do a good reveal!

When you think about it, 17 is the only one who could have won plot wise. Because all the other contenders had either selfish or pre planned wishes they would not change. Given that they needed someone with an empty slate basket to come around and develop empathy for the other universes and make that specific wish, 17 is the only possible choice.

I don't know if it was specified in the dub or not, but in the Japanese version, it's stated that when they're erased, they don't even have an afterlife - they are literally removed from all existence, including their godly realms. So Goku dying wouldn't allow him to see Jiren again. Which makes the whole universe erasure thing so much more terrifying to me.

The whole purpose of the tournament of power was to see if mortals can change for better. In the previous saga, Zamasu believed mortals were unredeemable, but here 17 proved otherwise by reviving the losing universes

The final battle was one of the best moments in the entire franchise. Seeing Goku and Frieza work together to take down Jiren, Goku not even being able to fully go into Super Saiyan until the very last second, Android 17 being crowned the victor, the lesson about trust, this is such an incredible finale.

I actually love the way it ended and still defend it to this day. 1) The Grand Zeno’s knew that the fighters wouldn’t give it their all unless the survival of their universe and or themselves was at stake. And if someone other than 17 won they most likely wouldn’t have made the same wish, so A17 saved all of existence. Hell of a character arc. 2) This now expands the universe of Dragon Ball even more with more characters we can come to love, especially with universes 6, 4, 3, 2, and 11. 3) Even though Goku and Frieza ringed out Jiren it’s still possible that he could have beaten them, he still had a lot of gas in the tank, or at least more than Goku or Frieza. 4) And most of all Vegeta kept his word and got U6 brought back thanks to the MVP A17, which means we have to se Vegeta Goku and the other Saiyans visit planet Sadala and meet an entire planet of good Saiyans. Hell Toriyama might even take some time to grow and develop Cabba, Kale and Caulifla. Oh and any excuse to se more Hit. Hopefully Tohei brings it back soon, and move it to a different time slot in Japan so we can get the blood back. Also give the animators more time to work on these episodes so we can get this high level of quality back!

I really enjoyed the tournament. Probably my favorite saga of all dragonball. Sad you've finished the episodes, but there's still the 2 movies after this, plus old dragonball. The tournament of power's goal was to give them a chance to show their worth in this tournament. 17 wished for a none selfish wish which is of high respect. Goku started this to give this universes a chance to change Zeno's mind. So even though Goku seemed to be the bad guy, he kind of saved all the universes from being erased with this tournament.

What you have to remember is, the lovers don't die, they are erased from existence, that means there isn't any afterlife, thats also erased. Afterlife in dB universe is based on where you are (eg. Frieze being in earth's hell) no 7th universe, no 7th universe afterlife

I love the reaction Vegeta gets when Goku, his greatest rival, and Frieza, the object of his hate, work together. Goku, the low class warrior who somehow always manages to not just match him, but surpass him in power at every turn, and Frieza, the person that single handly killed his entire race and planets, leaving him a prince without a kingdom, a prince of no one.
