I can definitely understand the attraction of a new gizmo as a gateway into a new skill or technique. I've fallen for it more than once. I'm a firm believer in the travel comb. It's so much easier to just have one ready to go in the travel kit than have to try to remember to pack it. There was a point where I cut my own hair, but I never did it with scissors. It was always me in front of a mirror with a set of electric clippers going every which way over my head to try and get all my cowlicks knocked down. I know hair brushes are supposed to have some stiffness to them to help get tangles out, but the few times I've used them or they've been used on me it just feels like mild torture. That fancy brush/curler combo gizmo sounds like magic. And I'm sure you've gotten your money's worth from it. I largely sidestep the issue of styling be keeping my hair short. When I have to really start combing it, then it's time for a cut.But I have wavy hair and it gets totally unruly if it gets too long. In recent years I did pick up a boar hair brush for working my beard since, like the rest of my hair, it wants to go all wavy and shoot out everywhere. It does good work after a shower or washing my face. I comb out the beard and then run the brush through it to get everything laying flat.

I think I may need to learn how to cut my own hair soon. My current hair stylist is amazing, but it looks like a move is in the cards, so I'd have to find a new stylist. And after all the bad haircuts I've got over the years before I found her, I feel like I'd rather mess my hair up myself than pay to have someone mess it up for me. Or maybe I'll just have to grow it out. I imagine having short hair must be so much easier: keep it short, then you never have to worry about styling it! Maybe I should just shave my head! 😂 Boar hair brushes do seem to live up to their name. I certainly haven't regretted mine, even though I don't have a beard. ;-)

@@TheStyleStumbler As a kid in the mid 90s, I went with the trend and had the skater bowl cut that was popular at the time. I think that forever cured me of wanting to try and style my hair. 😂😂 And the waviness always made me hesitant to grow my hair out. At best I think I'd end up looking like a mad scientist. Keeping it short makes it easier to deal with, but it does feel bland and boring at times. I would say for you, growing it out would be a better alternative to shaving your head. There is something to be said for finding a hairstylist that you like. Even though I go to chain place it always seems like I get one of the same 2 or 3 people that work there and they always take care of me. I've had my share of bad haircuts over the years, so I appreciate the job they do.

@zachbecvar I remember that haircut! But I think the mad scientist look is much cooler. 😉

Tangle T for wet and tangled during showers and wet brush for dry and damp hair for me. Funny. I have longer and textured hair. For volume, if you need something else, there is the WaaLaa Comb. You could put superglue in the whole of the travel size.

Thanks for the tip on the super glue. I'll have to try that. (And remember to let it dry before using the brush again… I can already see myself forgetting.) Isn't it funny how finicky hair can be? I also prefer the Tangle Teezer for wet hair, and the Wet Brush Infinite Shine version for dry hair.

I have a few wide tooth combs. One stays in my purse; one is in each of my showers. I have three brushes. One is for wet hair, one is to fluff my hair before washing or to fluff my hair in general and one is for smoothing my hair. I have pretty easy to care for hair and a great cut. I mostly use my fingers 😂 I do go overboard on leave in conditioners, curl creams, hair oils and curl activation choices.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with a different comb or brush for all the different purposes. And you're so right - having a great cut makes styling SO much easier.

I just wrote a story on what those dual ended combs were for. When I went to edit I pressed delete instead. 🙄 Basically for upstyles and such. I really like that curling kit at the end. I might consider that in the future.

I'm so sorry to have missed your story on the dual ended combs! But I've done the EXACT same thing. It's frustrating when the "delete" and the "comment" button are so close together. ;-)

Could you also make a similar video about your styling products? I have very a similar hair type as you, so it would be so helpfull. Thank you❤

Hair is my struggle too. I keep hoping I'll find a magic solution to make it easier. And although I've found some really useful tools, none of them have been as mindblowingly good as I'd hoped. ;-) I am a singer and a voice actor.

After surviving benders and a crimper from my youth, I have zero desire to attempt to fight my hair genetics. It air dries overnight. It’s straight and flat. Curling is futile. 😂

The ONLY way that my hair will do anything other than “straight and limp” is by styling it wet-to-dry - Time consuming, but effective. Once I learned that heat doesn’t work on my hair structure, everything got a little easier - even curls.
