1:18:55 Jeaques Cousteau was the “father” of the aqua lung that can hold compressed gasses fordiving. He also figured out the dive tables. This all happened after WWII if I’m correct. His famous boat, the Calypso” was a ship used in war.

Calipso was a former Mine Sweeper, In the late 70's to the 80's ,I watch Jaques Cousteau in the TV exploring the undersea oceans. A lot of things I learned from his exploration.

He commercialized scuba after the war. His company improved regulators and gear but did not invent it.

Can't understand these world War two movies, the man could be dieing and they still ask him if he wants a cigarette, and he smokes it.

This is not the finest true war film. One of the best is “Midway” another is “ We Were Soldiers’ and also “Tora,Tora,Tora” This movie takes a backseat to those movies mentioned.

As fine and wonderfully entertaining as those movies you mentioned may have been, you seem to lack the ability to discern the immediate urgency and lasting historical value represented by this movie. Maybe you should research to find how many US Army Soldiers and US Marines DIED before it became obvious that it would be necessary to employ such tactics as they were capable of delivering! This movie depicts the US Navy's semi-elite unit known as the Underwater Demolition Team equipped with nothing but swim fins on their feet, an oxygen tank on their backs and swim mask on their heads and a diving knife about their waist...the precursor to the US Navy's SEALs, who now may be equipped with $1M worth of equipment per each team member when on a mission!! The UDTs were still active when I first joined the US Marine Corps. JFK had authorized the several diverse Special Operations Groups to be form but they had not been fully trained when I enlisted.

terrible colorization

Why is it that the modern colorization looks like crap where as the older methods actually looked good?? Saves money but looks like garbage.
