What’s really cool about this and what separates it from other smart locks is that if you got a friend or neighbor / guest or whatever hovering over your shoulder while you’re trying to get in the house they don’t see your code you’re typing in since it’s just a finger print. I’m sold on that alone. Super convenient and way more secure.

Yeah, I don't get the point of the ones bragging about anti snooping codes... if you hide your code with bs numbers before and after it, it doesn't matter, the same numbers will still unlock the door 😂

I bought this lock and have been very dissatisfied with its inability to consistently recognize my fingerprints.

Hey Kevin, this is pretty cool. I agree with you that it'll be nice for the lock not to lock right away if the door is still ajar. I'm curious if there's a setting that could remedy this?
@madnug3 жыл бұрын
I recently bought one of these, and I set the autolock to 5 minutes. That should be long enough for most tasks.I guess if I have to open the door for more than 5 minutes, then I should actually make sure the lock is open before I shut the door.

I see deformation in the your door casing where the dead bolt was in the locked position but the door wasn't closed. This is where the "autolock" feature causes problems.

About 6 months

Negative. I have this lock, and the batteries last more like 6 WEEKS not months. I can sometimes get 2 months out of it depending on use.

What do you do if you don't have the QR code?
@viper1600753 жыл бұрын
Don't actually use this unless you care more for convenience than actual security. The fact that is full of plastic inside makes it basically useless. That could be forced open in seconds. Plus kwikset cores generally aren't very secure because of their programmable keying. I don't think I've seen anybody take longer than a minute, maybe 2, to pick one open manually. Thirdly, electronic locks are infinitely easier to crack than physical. Many can be opened with a magnet.
@pineappleroad3 жыл бұрын
I agree about the problems with the “smart” key system (and i have even heard that the “smart” key system is prone to failing, resulting in the lock having to be drilled) Although i cant really see how a magnet would work on a lock like this The locks which engage a solenoid and the user then has to turn a knob to lock or unlock it, i can see how those would potentially be vulnerable to magnets, but with one like this where the lock is motorised i cant see how that would work, especially as there are no relays for the magnet to interfere with

The only thing right about your comment is the ease to pick a Kwikset lock. Plastics in electronic gear has its advantages. You’d be surprised there’s abundance of plastic moving parts in your car. The ease to pick Kwikset locks can be remedied by replacing the stock pins with flat tipped pins. It is a pain in the butt but can be done. You can also remove your lock core and take it to a locksmith to do it for you.

Apple will come out with faceID lock in the future
@OviWanKeno9i3 жыл бұрын
You can already do that with Home Assistant, a $30 Wyze camera, or a Eufy 2K doorbell cam, but you have to run a server with a decent CPU to learn the faces. You can also automatically trigger actions, lights, colours, music, vacuums, etc.. It's not easy and accessible though.
