Out of the many I've watched regarding smart locks, yours nailed the exact information I was looking for...Thank you

Good video. I've noticed the same thing with my Halo Touch; cold weather/fingers affects ability to operate. Also noticed that during the cold weather the battery life is shortened (got 1 month of use during Jan/Feb). Just changed them again yesterday, so got a little longer use out of them. We don't use the lock excessively either. We'll see if the warmer weather extends the life of the battery.

Has the warmer weather improved your battery life?
@macker0077 Жыл бұрын
@@timt8199 A little. Generally speaking, replacing all 4 AA batteries every 4-6 weeks and depending on the cold weather, as short as 3-4 weeks.

Keypad is a must. That's why I never considered august or wyze. I've been so happy with my eufy touch lock that I just bought a 2nd. I have installed the a few of the baldwin versions of this lock for customers and I found the written instructions incomplete and the lock noisy. Unless something has changed I believe baldwin/kwickset require a subscription fee.

@@dnoland77 "Keypad is a must, that's why I stay away from Wyze".... Wyze has a keypad.... "Oh yeah, i meant built-in"...... Shut up dude, Wyze lock isn't a complete lock replacement, it uses your existing deadbolt and keys. It has practicality FAR beyond these other MUCH more expensive locks.

Looks great! Would you recommend this or the Eufy Lock with built in Wifi? With all of Eufy’s recent security breaches I feel like this is the clear winner just from a safety angle even though I like the obscure shape of the Eufy keys which would seem more pick resistant.

So which one would you favor, this Kwikset Halo or the Eufy? Both on sale at Costco.
@adik49193 жыл бұрын
Thank you for honorable review. Weak part of most electronic locks are mechanical secret cause you can open them almost by “paper scrape” jiggle. For example Eufy has very weak Chinese key profile and etc. It seems that it’s better to buy reliable door lock and to add electronics to open it by mobile app or by assistance of your family if your phone’s battery dead. Any way video doorbell must have plus cameras plus alarm, and of course reliable door.

I was thinking this would be good if you get locked out of your house, but if you have just a deadbolt lock and the lower lock is just a lever with no lock then you likely wouldn't get locked out accidentally unless you left your keys at work and forgot to bring them with you. Also does this integrate with Ring alarm? So I can just unlock with my fingerprint and it also disarms my security system? Or if I use the key I cano opt to have it disarm or not disarm when using key. Not sure why strangers can lock your door, normal deadbolts only lock with whoever has the key.
@starwaves99173 жыл бұрын
Yup I’m experiencing the same thing with the Eufy lock but in very hot climate; sometimes it doesn’t read my finger print and sometimes entirely forgets my finger prints that I have to keep registering them again and again. And by the way the wrong try protection being on by default out of the box was super **** by Eufy. My mother in law got locked out when I first installed this lock and she had to take a piss outside next to the door. Wrong try protection with pin code fine but with finger print? What if it locks me out because it fails to read my finger print and I have to take a dump or some other serious emergency with child? I told Eufy to reprogram the software to have it turned off by default and suggested some other stuff (I’m a locksmith so I deal with people and locks all the time) and I guess they don’t care.
@LifeHackster3 жыл бұрын
Mine is more when I just finished running and everything is sweaty and the finger print reader will not read and then I have to use the keypad. As to the wrong try protection, lets say it got triggered by your prints not being recognized, you can still use the keypad. So the keypad is a backup for us.

I wish I had seen your video before I installed this lock. The fingerprint sensor is so unreliable as to make it essentially useless. I've updated the firmware and cleared it out and re-added users, to no avail.

I can tell you from my experience that the battery life is pretty short, especially in colder weather. I had mine fail within a month of being installed in January. I had two cause the first one kept on giving me error so they sent me another one, it worked for a few months then stopped connecting to WiFi, I did all the troubleshooting and still couldn’t add the lock again. When I called the customer service, they told me the A button is malfunctioning and I can’t add the lock. It’s past my warranty so I am so pissed. Worst lock ever. I have to change the batteries every couple of weeks and I just got sick an tired of it. I’m trying to return it and a refund I hope.
