RIP Fran Rifugiato. Lead singer and guitar. I played in a blues band with him 15-20 years ago. Great dude!

JUST FREELANCING IN THE PUNK WORLD TODAY AND GOT A 5 PACK FOR YA. LET"S START WITH A MEGA RARE ONE. THE FINGERS' ISOLATION. Fingers started out as a five-piece band (thus, the name) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in early 1977. Packing up their instruments and professional aspirations and leaving two Fingers behind, three members (two of them brothers) headed to New York City in September of that year hoping for some Ramones-type fame. As part of a press kit, their manager thought an actual record, instead of the standard cassette tape, might be more of an attention-getter. In December 1977, the Fingers recorded and soon released a three-song EP which was mostly sent to record company execs in the hopes of securing a contract. No deals were inked, but the "Isolation" e.p. purportedly caught the ear of Sire mogul Seymour Stein who dug but declined. Stein apparently deemed the Fingers style too similar to the Ramones - never a bad thing! The remainder of the "Isolation" e.p. seem to have been swallowed up into the void. Until 1998, the record was completely unknown having never surfaced in a store or collection. Some collectors even had their doubts the record existed until a band member sent out a tape where, sure enough, you could hear the needle dropping down and some great punk rock begin. Between the manager and roadies and ex-girlfriends, around 10 copies in varying condition made their way into collector hands. Anything make your grubby little collectors' fingers tingle in the last sentence? Bingo! The words "ten copies" The only auction results I could find for this e.p. occurred in 2010 when a copy sold for $3678. Sometimes due to rarity only average punk records go for big bread, but that's not the case here. Isolation is a great song.

Great band, great tune and great write up - information given there. Quality stuff mate Ps - these guys sound better than the Ramones to me. Bit grittier, bit more snotty and raw. Ramones always sounded more power pop, pop punk than punk rock to me. ( Though I do respect their part in early punk rock history. But I was never a real fan). I need some real kind of snarly snotty punk in my punk rock just saying.

This should be more famous besides the unobtainable nature of the 45. Fingers features are amazing and it's not an argument it's fact

I remember back in the day, NYC and L.A. were the only places “on the map” re punk rock. Good to know there were others. This is right up there. And I like that they still sounded all raw in 1978. Most USA and Brit punk band’s 2nd albums sounded like Aerosmith & shit, lol. The Fingers; I’m a fan! Just now heard of them for the first time.
