I worked 4 lookouts in Oregon. The real thing. Thank you for this video. My first visitor. After 3 months. An Army vet from the Vietnam War. Good man. He stayed a long while. 3 hours. But a smoke popped up in my area, while he was here. Above a cloud deck. I reported it.

Found myself coming back to this. It’s a relaxing watch and I really want to visit. US National Parks always interest me despite living in the UK.

I was the operator at ELK mountain in 2011. Fires fires fires! Evacuated during the Whoopup fire and had the tower measured as the tallest tower in the country. Stats say 67 1/2 but we measured it at 80 plus feet.

I worked in a Fire Tower for the Florida Divison of Forestery for on weekends in South Florida. Great volunteer job and a great view over 70miles on a clear day.

Thank you for not cutting the video so often or camera. I really like how you captured all the small details. Such as the treks to the locations. Most videos now skip over the small things and details. Great voice over and interviews too. Nice and balanced. Earned a new subscriber :)

I worked in several L - 4 live in towers in Oregon. Going to a new tower that I wasn't familiar with the area. It was an adjustment period. My first day at a lookout called Soda Mountain. After the end of shift. I something 15 miles away. Valley floor. It wasn't dark yet. I looked like farm land. I thought it may be a farmers large sprinkler. I kept watching it with binoculars. After 5 minutes. I decided it was a fire. I got the legal. Reported it. That fire was called the Schoolhouse Lane Fire. By the way. I respect the Forest Sup interviewed here. But I worked in the real Hells Canyon, Oregon and Idaho border. While I worked for the USFS. In one of the winter months. The snow was deep. I made a poster. Computer generated. Lookouts of __-- Oregon. I had historic photos. Said if the lookout was active or decommissioned. Etc. It came out pretty well. I had no idea that I would later become a lookout.

I thought the black hills were meant to be sacred land to the injuns, & you’re using them for fireworks displays!, crazy horses ghost must be going even more crazy.
