I watched this every time it came on as a kid. He had a straightforward, friendly approach to science that I enjoyed. It was as if your own grandpa was teaching you science in a relaxed, informal atmosphere that always ended up being fun.

Ah good ol'Mr. Wizard. I used to watch his program ALL the time. If I had to choose between him and say Bill Nye, I'd choose him EVERY time.
@Mittens_Explains_It_All7 жыл бұрын
Guardiane for sure! I never could get into bill nye's obnoxiously frantic and schizophrenic pacing. It felt condescending and stupid. This, this is just awesome. Way more engaging and thoughtful.

I also like how he isn't acting, he's just being himself, like you're in a classroom. Feels like he didn't even really rehearse, he must have been like "F it, lets just film it."

I'm glad he pointed out that water takes away the heat and not the oxygen (think about it water is H2O so it already has oxygen in it)

what is it called when a material can burn but does not produce enough heat to continue burning on its own, it needs an exernal source to continue burning

Don't you need ignition for fire and not necessarily heat?
@TheDbworks8 жыл бұрын
+chrismc410 Ignition is a process in which you increase the heat to cause combustion. So, heat is fundamental and basic :) to start a fire.

Friction!
@ChristmasEve7776 жыл бұрын
For a chemical reaction to occur, the temperature of the reactants need to at least be some minimum temperature to burn. A spark or other ignition source is usually very small but very hot and capable of starting the process. Dropping the reactants' temperature will instantly stop the fire. I actually got burning paper to go OUT by dropping it in liquid oxygen. I wouldn't recommend this though! That same paper, when soaked in liquid oxygen and ignited will burn explosively. Also, lowering it into that liquid oxygen caused it to burn much brighter and hotter at first because that container had lots of pure oxygen gas above the liquid.
