The Devil's Advocate and this film have some similarities between them. I watched both of these films back to back and couldn't help and notice the similarities even tho the stories are completely different and this film is more of a legal thriller film while Devils Advocate is more of a supernatural thriller horror film. Either way both great films but I prefer Devils Advocate definitely more.

Really a fantastic film. Sydney Pollack's best work since Three Days Of The Condor. I'm not sure if it got any recognition, but it should have. I believe Holly Hunter at least got a nomination. Personally, I give it 4 out of 4 stars.

I just loved this movie. Even after 30 years. So well acted, well-written, well-directed. The only part in the movie that perturbs me is at the end when the character Mitch is asked, "How in the hell did he come up with mail fraud?" and Mitch's answer was that he learned it in law school, when actually (in the movie) it was from one of his clients (who happened to be a black guy) who "reminded" Mitch of this act of malfeasance and he was not given credit for "jogging" Mitch's memory. To wit, it still is a great movie.

This was the Book that I feel that put John Grisham's Career into orbit. My Favorites are also The Rainmaker, The Testament, and The Bretheren. Mitch should have been very suspicious if something is too good to be true, it is. Also they knew he was "hungry", he was blue collar graduated from Harvard with honors, and worked whatever job he could get to provide.

I found it pretty amazing how when the billing went through the mail, it became a felony. When we consider various tech and coding…. Local, state, and international processes and these coding realities and things like SEC and investment connections and varying concepts of influence and leverage and control… the safe space and care… it’s pretty important stuff.

Definitely a bizarre way to end the film!!!! It was very unique to see Tom Cruise act as a lawyer on screen. ( and he certainly delivered ) The on screen chemistry Jeanne Tripplehorn had with him can also be felt.
