Even her absurd, self-centered concerns last season about how Erika's legal troubles might impact Sutton spoke volumes to me about her character.

If it's decided that Erika is found guilty of scamming those victims I know I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of anything Erika paid for. I don't think it would make them guilty of anything but it would be hard not to feel disgusting if in fact Erika did wine and dine with victims money.

@@valb9111 I was never an Erika fan either, Val. There were subtle things about her values that disturbed me too. But despite that, I still don't actually believe she ever knew anything about her husband's illegal behaviors. Just as she was a "trophy wife" for him, bcz of her youth, attractiveness, & sexy sexual vibe, I think he was a "trophy husband" for her & she believed completely in the illusion he was creating for her & others. She also had daddy issues (no daddy) & so he was her ultimate sugar daddy; & who questions their wealthy daddy, if lucky enough to have one, on where & how he gets his money? No, I think he wanted her, & everyone, to think he was a rain man when it came to money, & seduced her with his seemingly limitless power & success; and the consequence was that she lost all perspective & simply spent with abandon, thinking the flow of money would never run out. And then suddenly, out of the blue, her rose-colored glass house shatters and she's suddenly faced with not only massive betrayal by him, both in matters of the heart & in business, but serious financial, legal & financial security threats as well, not to mention profound humiliation in front of the whole world as her trophy-daddy/hubby's soft, corrupt underbelly is exposed. So I can sympathize w her. To me, she is a modern day Marie Antoinette, who just realized too little wayyy too late. (But pls don't come back at me with how she responded to this emotional pain, fear & shame. That's a whole other story, requiring a different analysis, & probably coming from her difficult childhood, where she learned never to show weakness. But I agree it was inappropriate, disturbing, & did nothing to help her case.) That said, however, I certainly agree that I wouldn't want to realize at any point that I had been wined & dined on victims' money either, & I might have wondered, as the other Housewives did, if I might unknowingly have some info relevant to the case that might pull me into it briefly, which they all did wonder. But Sutton, who could relate to Erika's early divorce challenges enough to offer her a loan to get her through it, not only could NOT relate compassionately to any of Erika's legal & criminal charges but went immediately to "How might this affect me? How could this hurt me?" And she was so concerned for herself that she even contacted her lawyer to make sure she couldn't be implicated in anything. In fact, personally I think the only reason she confronted Erika so eagerly & seemingly courageously was to try to get enough info to ensure she herself was protected, bcz I don't believe she really ever thinks about anything or anyone but herself & what can or might affect her. And altho' that was only hinted at in the first couple of seasons, I feel her reaction to Dorit's traumatic experience, which Sutton couldn't relate to at all, finally exposed who she really is and how she really thinks: me, me too, and only me, me, me! Does it involve me? No. Can it affect me? No? Ok, then, why are you asking me to talk or even think about it. I only want to think & talk about what affects me! Oh, and why did she not think it could affect her? I propose it's bcz she basically lacks a real capacity for empathy. In order to relate to how Dorit might be feeling - and care - she would have to feel it also, empathically, so that it would feel like it was affecting her too. But she didn't go there. And I'm suggesting it's perhaps bcz she can't.
