I remember getting those as a kid back in the 70's. I loved them so much I had to get them as an adult and they're a but different from yours because, I've had then for quite a while now. Mine a bit more washed out looking with the old off white child colored laces. Congrats on your pick up, it's a really good one. Great choice!

I’m not sure how much you researched this, but it’s my favorite adidas model of all. Here’s some more info: 1) First appearance 1972 Olympics - This colorway has been retro’d several times since. The famous ‘70s police tv show, Starsky and Hutch, featured a main protagonist who exclusively wore SLs. The nylon vamp was a new material in 1972 - The SL72 was cutting edge, Onitsuka and Nike used the old school leather vamp for the Corsair/Cortez. 2) The original Adi Dassler plan was to release a new SL (for Super Light) every Olympics. 3) There is SL76 and SL80. But Adi Dassler passed away in 1978. SPZL did a retro of the SL80 as well as a first ever archive release of the women’s only SL80A. 4) The SL shoes served as a template for the ‘70s and ‘80s era of Adi-runners. In fact, the SL ethos is felt in the adizero range. 5) adidas released SL Loop in 2014 in an homage colorway to the original. 6) The SL returned for the 2020 Olympics. NOAH, Lotta Volkova, and Wales Bonner were chosen to each design SL72s that featured their respective view of the classic model. NOAH was also allowed to design two colorways of the SL20 running shoe. 7) adidas eventually added the SL to the adizero range as a base model trainer - a Full Circle moment. It appears adidas is really pushing the SL72 in 2024 which is another Olympic year, right? ✌🏽💙👟

In my experience no, they run small. I’m a UK 12 but had to buy a 13 to fit. I’ve worn them in the gym for years and they’ve been terrific, I need a new pair but it seems they don’t make them in a size 13 now.
