It really does perform, back buttons are superb, bumpers also, so much to be happy with in this controller and since they ALL seem to have some weak points, finding what works for you is key.

Had this controller for a few weeks, out of the box everything seemed great. Responsive, liked the paddles, buttons, bumpers, ect. Now the sticks were my issue. First the actual thumbstick has no grip, I thought I was headcasing about it. After I took the controller apart and put on stock xbox sticks it felt much better. By the way, for owners of the controller you don't have to do that. They make different sticks for this controller, specifically more grippy. I've only seen them on aliexpress so far, but they are available. I wanted this controller to be my new main controller for comp FPS games. Even after swapping thumbsticks something still felt off. I had a buddy order one around the same time and he was complaining about the sticks feeling loose. I chalked up my complaints to that and returned it. Maybe it was that, maybe it's just retraining your brain after using potentiometer sticks for 20+ years to get used to it. Regardless the Apex 4 has HE sticks and a tensioner so I am ordering one of those to continue my search for a new FPS main controller.

As an owner of the KK2 and this new one, its definately worth upgrading, especially if youre going to buy a back up or replacement, since its only 10 bucks more. The ONLY downgrade for me with this controller was the lack of a rubber grip, and instead that sandpaper plastic grip these controllers have been doing lately. Completely servicable , just not my preferred feel. Doesnt impact my gameplay so I can overlook that. This plastic feel extends to the top of the controller, no more silky rubber feel on the top. Just smooth plastic. I can twist the controller casing pretty hard and NO CREAKING, so it feels like a quality build. The Dpad on the KK2 was competent and OK for non-fighting games, but not great. The Dpad on this KK3 is similiar but just feels alot better. Higher quality movement, less popping when you shift it around. Ive actually been using it for 2D games and I have better options like the M30 by 8bitdo, for 2D games. It works pretty well for them. The back paddles are great, though hard as hell to pop into the back. Feel like im going to break some shit, but they seem pretty good, if you like the Elite 2 style of paddles. Still prefer Scuf's Series X controller for back paddles. Fingers sit perfectly in the button groove for me. The sticks now have anti friction rings which feel alot better when rotating around the edges. One new thing I love, is the ability to adjust stick acceleration on the fly(sensitivity). There is LED's around each stick now and depending on the color it shows you which sensitivy each stick is set to. No longer is there a mode for no deadzone or more deadzone, now its just set to No Deadzones no matter what, for both sticks. What you adjust now is the sensitivity of each stick. I was playing Super Monkey Ball Deluxe on PS2 recently, through the emulator, and I was able to set the sticks to low sensitivty mid course, to manuever over some really thin paths that usually fuck me up with regular controller sensitivity. Its a cool tool to fuck with mid game. There is also trigger stops now and they are pretty good. Similiar to the Elite 2 where theres a little bit of movement before you hit the stops. Not in the mouse click style of the Scuf's. You still have the macro and turbo features and pretty much everything else the previous model had. The face buttons are also more in line with the quality of a Series X controller. The buttons dont get stuck like they did in the previous model. With the Brooke 2 adapter you can use the controller wirelessly on Series X, and ive had no disconnects, super responsive. Little bit of a pain in the ass to sync sometimes when switching devices frequently, but the last controller had the same issue. Battery life with the LED lights on is pretty shitty. It seems like after a 2 or 3 hour session the lights are flashing. Luckily it charges fully by my next gaming session. Wired is never a bad way to play anyway, so thats always an option. Got a few 10 foot USB C's and I sit close. This is no worse than the DualSense controllers, battery wise. Maybe I should try shutting off the LED's, but I usually only play in 2-3 hour intervals with breaks inbetween. Its a nice upgrade overall. For anyone unfamiliar with the difference these hall sticks make, boot up a twin stick shooter. Try one of these controllers (KK2 in no deadzone mode, or this one normally) and compare it to an OG Xbox controller. The difference in how accurate and quick the aiming moves is huge. Thats where you can really get a feel for the difference. Its crazy how much deadzone most of these controllers have. Even my 300 dollar scuf controllers. Hoping to see hall sticks get implemented in more controllers. Regular Xbox and Elite controllers are the worst. Massive fuckin deadzone. Dont know how the fuck that passed testing. I noticed it since the Xbox One. I thought 360 sticks felt pretty good, and PS3. PS5 controller is decent too. These hall sticks crush everything I tried though, as far as responsiveness of movement. Most of my muscle memory is from using deadzone controllers however. So that plays a part in why I might use a Scuf or something with more deadzone for specific types of games like an FPS. I think that just comes down to re-training my brain. I also like a little tension on the sticks and these sticks are a little too light for shooters, for me. I use medium tension or Xbox 360 stick tension on the Elite 2 for those types of games. The Flydigi Pro 4 has adjustable tension, rubber grips, hall sticks and other similiar features, plus clicky micro switch face buttons and Dpad. Pretty much all the features I wanted in a single controller. Should have that in by tommorrow. Interested to see how it stacks up to this. Its about twice the cost, so it better be improved. Im pretty obsessive about using different controllers for different types of games. Really enjoy finding the "right" tool for a specific game. I have 4 modded Joysticks as well that I switch between. I like completing a high volume of playthroughs on the channel and enjoy old and new games equally, gameplay being king.

That sounds shitty. I have not actually used the back paddles on this thing yet. I only popped em in a few times to check out the feature. I rarely use back paddles but its a cool feature for certain games, for me. I find creative uses for em sometimes. Good to know. I was not feelin the quality of those back paddles when I had to brute force those fuckers into the back. Dont like when putting something in feels like your going to break the controller. Makes me not wanna fuck with em. For me I dont like leaving back paddles in since it changes the way the controller feels, holding it normally. Atleast these ones do. Scuf has the right idea with thier Xbox controllers. Theyre both out of the way, and right by your fingers, ready to fire off. No taking shit off or putting it back on. I would be less likely to use them , because I dont want to break the shit.@@Deleterfps

I have the kk2 pro still and is still by far better than any regular controller on the market and perhaps even better than most (pro) controllers out there in my opinion. I got tired of my analog controllers breaking all the time because I am aggressive as hell on my controller sticks. The only thing that I have ever happen was I had to clean the controller out once and pop the stick pads back in. I have had the gkkp2 for about a year and a half and after cleaning yesterday it still feels just as good the first day. It will be difficult to change my mind. If you have had the same issue like breaking analog and stick drift you will not be unsatisfied with these controllers. Well worth the price. I could care less about the latency on these controllers. I own people all day on mine and supposedly it has a not so perfect latency...but I play better with it and play worse on the PS and regular Xbox controllers including the elites for both. PS: dont lie to yourself if you are a true gamer and play for hours on end dont use a controller wirelessly...it does not make any sense...

"tactile" doesnt really mean anything. Its a controller. everything about it is tactile. But for some reason the controller industry found a way to make people think it means "clicky buttons" which in turn made a lot of people translate that into meaning that it has mechanical switches. Kinda fascinating really.
@nouche3 ай бұрын
There are even some people (saw reviews of this very controller) who believe that clicky = mechanical. Like, sure, this stuff is membrane and the shame’s really on them for initially writing “mechanical” on their website (yeah, that was a thing)… but then I can’t just take some reviewers seriously when their way of “dubunking” that claim or say it’s unlikely was just… to listen for sound?? Literally, there’s that one person that just brought their mic up close and said oOoOo look! It’s not clicking! That’s not how mechanical switches are supposed to sound, take a listen! (*proceeds to playing audio samples of Cherry MX Blue switches actuating*) Surely that can’t be mechanical! Really tends to show people don’t really know what mechanical *_switches_* are in a broader sense. I guess not everyone is a keyboard nerd! But yeah, this stuff is membrane, you could indeed argue it’s “tactile”… because that just could mean virtually anything (just not in the sense of Cherry MX Browns or Blues and whatnot). Words are merely what we make them, they’re not precise, more often than not.

I think gullikit kind of fumbled with this one. If your main market is the switch and other console crossover market, the benchmark you need to clear is the Bigbig Won Rainbow Pro 2. I have one, and it's amazing, and the only thing I can think of that the kk3 has over it is the hall effect sticks, which isn't even that big of an advantage right now considering the issues with the sticks. If you look at the prices, they're the same, but the rainbow offers more features, more console connection options, and a better button layout, plus all the tools included in the box with wireless charging. I don't see a reason the kk3 should do better commercially, but I know it will just because of the thumb sticks.

One of the triggers has much more play i noticed than the other trigger and i play on the shortest trigger throw. 2nd the back paddles have a tendency to stick due to the back squares they fit on rub against the sides which is HUGE buzzkill for me and now making it unplayable in some games.

Damn, I've had the KK Pro 2 for over a year (PC player) and the ONLY upgrade I wanted was a better D-pad..... Not only for fighting games (I also have an arcade stick) but for retro games as well. Thats super disappointing.

Hey, please include a trigger distance test, controllers like the gamesir g7 despite having clicky or full options and hall effect, have a short max distance for non clicky and is significantly less then the full range you get on a Microsoft controller. for racing games especially this is not good. It would be great to know these kinds of things in your review especially with how bad customer service is with these companies :(
