It's silly, I know, but I really love the clean slate on 1 Jan. 😊

I found the Kusuma book browsing at my library a year or more ago. I really enjoyed it too. My daughter and I did a jigsaw of her work afterwards that was fun.

A big non fiction start to the year Britta! Even I am reading two non fiction this month- who am I? I know you didn’t love Sahar Khalifeh’s My First and Only Love but I can recommend Wild Thorns by her which is a quite different book. I’m hoping to read her The End of Spring next month. Hotbed sounds really good but I can see why expectations would have affected your experience, pesky things 😬

Nonfiction?! Who are you and what did you do with Jo? 😂 And thank you very much for the rec! Even though I didn't like her other book that much, I thought she was an interesting author and I certainly want to read more of her work.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Mornings in Jenin! I read it last year and thought it was superb. I may need to re-read it. My reading year so far has also been a mixed bag, some excellent, some very not. I'm looking forward to hearing you talk about the next two books you mentioned because I have them both on my TBR.

Mornings in Jenin was so good. Heartwrenching also, and even more so, knowing that many families IRL had to go through that hardship. I will report back on those other two books!
