Fun fact: consumer co-ops where huge in the Soviet Union and were a basic pillar of their socialist system which western historians never bother discussing in their sensationalist Cold War propaganda. Why tell people how a place actually functions when all you need to get across is that it's bad? Telling people about workplace democracy or that unions helped plan the economy doesn't help with that goal.
