Game play its fine, i enjoyed it, but story and design wise... its lackluster. 1. Enemy designs look like they were ripped out of Doom 2. Descendents look copied and pasted, like Little care or passion was put into making them look fresh, unique, or hell "cool." This extends to the the environments too, it looks pachworked from better games. 3. Normally I would praise developers for not being afraid to put hot characters in the game but this just seems lazy and pandering, like a gatcha game. But atleast gatcha games make unique characters.

@@gasad01374 it's a 20 minute mission with two boss fights, the final ice boss has a healing drone and of course the invulnerable balls to slow the fights down. I've beaten it 3 times and i've been in losing teams about 9 times. If you are underleveled this fight is very hard and chances are your team will fail. I can beat it now though finall after grinding to lvl 40 and getting modules.

HEY, as fkn annoying as Jeremy was, his cutscene is probs one of the most epic. They made the man a villain, gave him a redemption arc, and then killed his ass. Yes he's a c*nt, but he's neither weak nor useless. I kinda wish they would have really made him shine. i HATED the life out of him.... until I did The Chapel. It's probs my fav part of playing so far. I want a cutscene viewer now as well.

I played for 10 hours and never found the RMTX store.. but after 10 hours I was ready to uninstall.. Even with my 1500+ hours in warframe which is a good portion of the base that this game copies (Keeping in mind this is over the course of 3 years with a 3 year break) the gameplay was legitimately copy paste missions in a destiny-like 'open world' with a warframe-like class/character system.. However repetitive warframe is, and *can* be.. this game makes warframe's sometimes horrendous grind feel like a roller coaster at six flags.

I am 100+ into the game. I bought $20 worth of currency. I bought Enzo for the encrypted vaults and have farmed a total of 5 characters. I've farmed 7 crystalline catalyst and 3 energy activators. Say what you will but I believe this game is what you make of it. If you want a good, relativity chill, time suck of a game, this is a good one. Especially playing with a friend or two. It's a bumpy gem IMO. I've had a lot of fun and have had more enjoyment for my $20 than most of the $60+ titles I've played recently.

For me Freyna was the worst to get, Sharen and blair was pretty quick. I got Valby almost on accident farming for other amorphous materials. I have Viessa as starter, bunny, freyna, sharen, blair, enzo, gley, valby and i'm currently building lepic.

Zach is literally describing D2's monetary system. You pay for the expansion and every content within that expansion is acquirable by grinding albeit a couple of cosmetics in the silver store. Every single weapon, armor, and ability can be used so long as the expansion is owned.

And it'll only cost you ~200 dollars. Quite steep barrier to entry for a F2P game. People fail to understand that when you start playing a F2P game, and you buy expansions year after year, it's not as overwhelming, but if someone wants to play it today, and there's hundreds of dollars worth of expansions and DLC, suddenly it's a lot bigger deal to buy in. And it's not a matter of "try it free and then buy the expansions", that's still a massive investment just to be able to use a couple of new guns and experience lobotomized content that was cut because the game size got too big. It's actually one of the reasons that made me quit, when I started, I had to buy three expansions ranging from 30-50 dollars, now there's 3 more expansions which cost the same. It was getting way too expensive to keep up. And let's not forget D2's Battlepasses, shop cosmetics that you can't get by playing etc. It's not exactly just the expansions that fund the game.

You only have 10 slots as a base, and need to buy extra slots from there. with 15 different Descendants already, not counting ultimates, you already have to dish out money if you want all at the same time. Not much different from Warframe here, however Warframe had some events and twitchdrops stuff where fully build warframes came with a slot, also buying a warframe with platinum always comes with a catalyst to double capacity and a slot, in TFD the extra slot is a higher priced option and no energy activator is included. They also have free slots in Nightwave, a complete free battlepass that is quite infrequently updated.

If you want significant new content you'll always pay for it. Its just a question of how. Even something like the new Elden Ring DLC. It's 66% of the price of the original game, 33% of the size (2:1 cost to return already) and still has copy pasta recycled enemies and forced collectables to pad the play time. They made way mroe money off of the DLC than the base game because the dev cost of making the expansion was far lower, since they were working off of the already built framework of the base game. So all they had to do is make new content.

@@mellar5864 Depends on your failure rate of the dungeon. Also there is big difference because 1 weapon in TFD can be used by all your guys. 1 character can use all your weapons. You have to grind each WOW character up individually. Then there are also things like Rep grinds and many MANY other secondary grinds that are not raids. I'm a long term MMORPG player and Warframe or TFD have NOTHING on the amount of grind in a PVE MMORPG. It's a drop in the bucket by comparison if you try to compare grinding for every character vs grinding for every character.

@@arionell currently warframe grinding is much better, prime warframe can be obtained through trading in under a hour, on average the grind is much faster for normal frame with boss drop as u can finish in 2 minutes, some frames that are hellish to get like khora or nidus etc you can just grind plats and buy them from shop which takes under 5 hours or hope they appear in circuit, grinding for orokin reactor or forma can be done in 30 minutes for a hour, warframe grinding atm is much much better than the first descendant, i will admit it took warframe 11 years of QOL updates for it to get here but thing is DE listened to community complain, so it's all depends on how nexon is gonna do things going forward.

We are not the same. Difficulty is a must for me in a combat centric game or I immediately get bored. The important thing is that you have more versatility to tackle the greater challenges ahead which is what progression is all about; not out scaling everything, thats terrible design. Dragons Dogma 2 roaming is a good example of this. I was really enjoying it, until I out scaled everything and dropped it soon after. It completely ruined what was otherwise a good game.

In warframe, its easy to build base warframes, you can loot the bp's in monster drop, and there are different ways to earn potatos(crystallization catalyst). only prime versions of warframe are locked behind relics(amorphous material), where as TFD base descendants are locked behind the same system as their ultimate counterpart. IMO if they remove the base descendants in amorphous materials and put it as monster loot like rare mats, the grind would be more tolerable because you also loot some components or mods along the way.

Not really, aside from a few warframes, most base warframes bp are a boss drop. So you have to run same mission over and over as well. It just feels faster in warframe because you can usually get to bosses in under a minute thanks to how the mission works.

There is also a difference in buying a Descandant vs a Warframe. The Descandant is just the Descandant, for an extra Slot you need to pay extra, no Energy Activator. A Warframe comes with a Slot and Catalyst. Paying extra for the bundles are mostly some extra Cosmetics themed to the frame.

How many times do you gotta kill a boss to get all the very specific parts you need for your descendent? In this game, you're time gated on the resources to build stuff, by having to build some of those resources.. imagine the warframe time gate (12+72) but for every descendent's resources.. which you can't do all of those parts concurrently.. It's part of why the time gate feels particularly egregious even coming from warframe's 3 day for the final craft of a frame.

"Then just don't play it" is kind of a ridiculous response to the complaints about the monetization. This is a game review; if it's not fun to the point where just not playing it at all is a better option than playing it, that means it's a bad game and the review should reflect that accordingly. I don't think the IGN reviewer was claiming that they were doing something illegal or immoral.

Good question, I didn’t like the game much at first, but the more I played the more fun I had. The appeal is in building the characters and well, grinding, and that the game does well I think. Idk, it kinda grows on you as you learn the systems. Also, Jeremy, f****** Jeremy.

IMO, if you can't put in 10 hours. There's no way it's getting top 10 if the boredom is driving you away in the first couple hours. If it can keep you for 10 hours, but can't keep you after 20-30, especially for a live service, it's not a good game.. the entire model is made to entice you to spend money.. and it's failing at the one week mark.. For live service games I would say 56 hours (4 hours a day for 2 weeks) is the bare minimum.. that being said, everyone's living arrangements and time engagements are different, and by no means is this any hard and fast requirement. Not everyone has the time or energy or freedom to put 4 hours into a game for 2 weeks straight... In my honest opinion if a live service free to play action game can't melt time away long enough for you to hit 56 hours of play time, it has failed in its function even if it succeeds in its intent to to open your wallet.

I quit the game after nearly 8 hours. Nothing it does impresses me and the early content is incredibly boring. Maybe it's because I've played Warframe before, so I was feeling sore for the lack of movement and weapon variety in TFD.

They should add raids like ffxiv does so it is not just a blatant gear check. Bosses are very primitive unfortunately, 100% aimbot accurate and just annoying to deal with their constant invuln phase. They should add mechs that would take hours or tens of hours to practice and not just roll it with god build

Guess what in WF you have to wait 72h after you start the crafting,that only for the frame its Not include the seperate Parts the time you need to craft aswell. In TFD for the normal Version you need to wait 16h and for the ultimate Version 36h (Not include the seperate Parts but you get the Point)

Destiny was horrible on launch vault of glass saved it. Hell even destiny 2 was garbage at launch. Dont even get me started on when wareframe came out. First descendant has some issues but the foundation is alright they just have to add more content and QOL updates. They have already released 2 hotfixes that fixed things the community did not like about the game. It just came out give it some time.

5:52 actually it is, for some bosses not all. I noticed that respawn of balls of steel and regen when I was way underleveled for the content and I could not do enough damage to them. They would regularly respawn and in some cases regen their plates as well. You cant notice that IF you are leveling your character and mods correctly though, which I wasnt at the time. You break like 2 of them, if you take too long in that phase the same 2 will go back there as if nothing happened. Also, some bosses have healing as well, which you cant notice if you are shredding them.

I can safely say, that as someone who has invested heavily into Warframe and as someone who is also having fun with TFD, it basically copies Warframe's homework to a T. I'd even argue that the supposed "lackluster" launch state of TFD is on par with vanilla Warframe when it launched. Slightly less mission variety, but mechanically, basically identical.
