The First Descendant - Should a Dad Play?

Great idea for a channel. I've been playing FD quite a bit (10 hrs). Simple in, have fun, and out. I could see it getting repetitive, it does feel like a "suck you in, then microtransact you because you're invested".

The biggest issue with being a dad and playing this game is the grind is real, so you have to dedicate a fair amount of time to unlock a lot of things. On the plus side, I don't think I've run across a mission that has taken more then 15 minutes.

Ahh yes the “free to play” model where you basically need to pay or enslave yourself. I’m glad you all review games with micro transactions in mind. Definitely avoiding this one 5/10 seems fair.

I think for some people who really love a good grind it's a non-issue but I think for most people that kind of commitment is a hard sell for sure. - C.J.

The free to play model is what pushes endless grinding and unjustifiable micro-transaction costs that are borderline predatory in certain free to play genres. I don’t think all games will fall into that but The First Descendant in my opinion definitely does. The reviewer here honestly did a great job across the board with this one after playing it myself.

@@MitchellMarshall-z4m borderlands is a endless grind😂 so is destiny and so is warframe the whole point is to get better weapons and make your build stronger while collecting new things those games arent just a story then its done there is grinding afterward to make your character and build better

I don't think endless grinding is inherently a bad thing, in fact I think more often than not it's some games best feature, like Warframe for example. The biggest determining factor just comes down to player preference. I have quite a few friends who think Warframe looks excellent but just don't want that level of grind and that's pretty understandable. Having lots of games with varying levels of grind is healthy for consumers since it gives everyone an opportunity to play something that will afford them the best balance between gaming and life. -C.J.
