Hey guys! In this video, I go over the first dinosaur InGen ever created for Jurassic Park in actual CANON! Here we learn of quite a few interesting things in the expanded lore found within Jurassic World Survival Guide. Some information on Benjamin Lockwood, John Hammond and even Jurassic Park Fossils is talked about in the pages of it. For Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, it would appear as if Triceratops is set to get an expanded role within the canon more than we previously knew. The Genetically Engineered Dinosaurs of JP are explored here in detail! And I quite like it! :D

The first animal was a Miniature Elephant about the size of a small dog. Hammond showed it to investors as a sales pitch for Jurassic Park.

Whatever they cloned, I am going to go out on a limb and say... it is almost certainly the movie-canon replacement for the Miniature Elephant from the book, and in that regard it may have been a mammoth that was stunted perhaps? But I like your idea of the Sabertooth, it would gel nicely with the movie canon, and it wouldnt be that weird. Honestly personally... I always found the miniature elephant thing, to be... just... the weirdest part about the original book.

This is weird. Everyone says they cloned the elephant. But when i read the book it said they didnt- all they did was take a baby elephant and keep it malnourished to sell it off as an elephant that had been manipulated genetically to be small. Its the same tactic people use to trick people into buying nonexistant teacup pigs. There is no such thing as a teacup pig. They sell people malnourished runts and show off other runts they claim as the parent (id love to ask them for a dna test and that id need to be there to collect the samples to test myself to sse the fear in their eyes as their scam crashes down) Which was what they did with the baby elephant. But by the time the elephant died from complications from malnourishment it didnt matter ingen had its funding. It was a theme of smoke and mirrors johns illusions before he could create the real thing

I actually noticed the smilodon toys before, but I thought they put those up on the shelves because they were a popular extinct animal that children would love or that they were planning to place the species in the park in the future. Never thought of the idea that maybe it was because they had already created one.

I agree, cloning a Smilodon makes more sense than at first cloning a dinosaur specifically. InGen was still in it's infancy at the time and was probably testing out what it could do with genetic power.

Interestingly the Employee Handbook mentions that in 1984 InGen started their cloning attempts and says nothing about any prehistoric creature cloned within that year. For that year, Masrani Global Backdoor Timeline says: 1984 FIRST TEST FERTILIZATION OF ARTIFICIAL OVUM TATSUO TECHNOLOGY ESTABLISHED IN TOKYO, JAPAN So, yeah... Fertilization does also hint at a cloning attempt.
@BarjanTube
@BarjanTube 6 жыл бұрын
Where was this mentioned? In real life I do believe a sheep (Dolly) was the first animal to be cloned. I looked it up, this was in 1996 (first mammal). The Survival Guide explicitly states InGen cloned a "Prehistoric" animal. With first dinosaur cloned in 1986. First could also be a Pteranodon. Also it doesn't mean it survived for a long time.

I think Jurassic World is more organized than any of it before. Though just because they're trying to lay down the events more accurately, small typos and mistakes are bound to creep in and are way more obvious to fans with a keen eye for detail :) Personally I enjoy these mismatching (?) clues.

I'd think the first animal was the mosquito that was encapsuled in amber itself. Think about it, in order to extract the blood and DNA from the animal that the mosquito bit, they probably got access to the DNA of the mosquito in question first.

I think what he means is they'd need to isolate the mosquito's DNA first so that they could make sure they weren't mixing the two up (though I don't think this would have been much of a problem as it's DNA would likely be highly similar to modern mosquito's and also would have been broken down as much as the dino DNA and also would probably be harder to extract specifically than the Dino's itself)

There's a line in The Lost World novel that could sort of confirm the saber-toothed tiger theory. Page 12 in my copy. Baselton used to help Ingen denying the dinosaur cloning rumours. His most effective way was using the derisive snort: "saber-toothed tigers, indeed!"

Well there is one dinosaur that has always had questions around it's creation... Spino...
@OmegaPictures318
@OmegaPictures318 6 жыл бұрын
Babalonkie Those questions were answered by the DPG. It was illegally cloned by the Masrani corporation as the by product/accident of a project for new dinosaurs for Jurassic World
@babalonkie
@babalonkie 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, but that cannon information doesn't make sense to me, Masrani highly disapproved of highly dangerous animals as portrayed in Jurassic World, in-fact he was surprised of many things with the I-Rex... and after the events of JP3... if that information was true Dr WU would of been fired way back then rather than in JW... Plot hole or is WU directly responsible?!? Also Masrani was handed the rights of the business just before Hammond died, Masrani highly respected Hammond's wishes, since the years are supposed to be accurate, The Spino is fully Grown in JP3, the timing doesn't add up. So many plot holes.
@OmegaPictures318
@OmegaPictures318 6 жыл бұрын
Babalonkie Actually, Masrani was ignorant of alot of the stuff going on in his company. Although he didn't approve of dangerous animals, there were still shady things going down right under his nose, which is why he was so surprised with the I-Rex altogether, with both its appearance and abilities. Hoskins even stated, " Masrani's so rich he doesn't even know what he owns." So while Masrani didn't order the creation of the Spinosaurus exactly, it probably still occurred without him knowing, and was abandoned on Sorna along with other illegal clones (Corythosaurus, Ankylosaurus, and Ceratosaurus along with the JP3 clan of raptors) Also the dinosaurs were engineered to mature in a span of 4 years. Hammond passed away and gave to rights to Masrani shortly after the San Diego incident, so the Spinosaurus being mature at that time isn't so far out.
@babalonkie
@babalonkie 6 жыл бұрын
Ok but then after JP3... why wouldn't of Masrani fired and took hold of the people responsible of the uncontrolled clones? WU for example. Also he would of had to of been thorough after violating Hammond's wishes and causing multiple deaths and damage, Why no implemented counter measures? Why was he so shocked with the I-Rex? It still feels like rushed back story...
@OmegaPictures318
@OmegaPictures318 6 жыл бұрын
Babalonkie Like I said, Masrani was very ignorant of his properties. He probably didn't even know that his dinosaurs existed until the opening of Jurassic World, which canon wise was 2003, or didn't know where they were and only knew they were alive to be put in the park later. And no charges were pressed against his company since the assets were abandoned on Sorna anyway, and no one had a clear idea about the total animal population and species list except members of Ingen, so no one was even aware such illegal action was taken outside of Masrani's watch outside of the scientists who bred the illegal dinosaurs. And Masrani was shocked with I-Rex because he had no idea what it was going to be like. He had simply ordered it and just waited for it to be done, unaware that there was shady dealings going on in his own park. He wasn't even aware that the park dinosaurs weren't natural animals themselves, but modified clones due to gaps in the DNA sequences.

The idea that the Triceratops was the first dinosaur that they have clone makes a lot of sense to me, because the Triceratops was the most common pleas dinosaur in the hell Creek formation and I can imagine that the mosquitoes there did a lot of those dinosaurs and herbivores are usually the more common species in an ecosystem.

personally, my headcanon had always been that the first dinosaur cloned (in the film canon, at least) was actually a Herrerasaurus, inspired by the very first teaser trailer which mentioned that the amber used was from South America. as to the first cloned animal, i'd like to think it was a dwarf elephant of some kind, just a tiny little homage to the first novel (and yes, i know Hammond's miniature elephant wasn't actually cloned ;) )

I bet the first non-saurian extinct animal InGen cloned was the quagga. Though it went extinct relatively recently, it is mentioned in both Jurassic novels as the first animal for which de-extinction was considered by the scientific community. So it would be a fitting reference to the books to carry this over to the canon of the film and expanded universe.

Could it also be the mosasaur if Jurassic Park the game is considered semi canon ? After all it’s not a dinosaur and probably needed extra time to get just as big

true but keep in mind that the animals were modified to reach maturity faster so that they could go on display quicker. If the mosasaur were a prototype you could justify that in them simply needing to perfect the tech required to make that modification work, but even then that would mean raising the mosasaur to maturity naturally which presents all the challenge of keeping a marine animal that's only going to get larger and require MORE food as it does so, over a substantially longer period of time. And if you think keeping Orcas in captivity was difficult try doing that with something that is exclusively inclined to kill and eat you, and for all you'll ever know isn't trainable (and is frankly too risky to even try with.)

This video is more on speculation, but it seems to me that there's a lot that we haven't seen in a movie, or read in either of the books about the beginnings of InGen. With you bringing this up, sure seems to me, this is a good chance this is what we'll get to see and hear about in Fallen Kingdom. As far as the first dinosaur constructed by the company, you may have nailed it, but I also think it's worth mentioning that we would've seen evidence of the first dinosaur by the time The Lost World hit theaters back in 1997. If it was a saber-toothed tiger, can you imagine how frantic the team would've been trying to contain that animal?? To me, sure seems like it would be the equivalent of containing a velociraptor.

I think the animal that was cloned was a dwarf silican elephant because in the first JP book Hammond had mentioned he had earned his wealth by showing off the elephant and having people donate to him. I’m not entirely sure though

In the book, Hammond's first use of genetic manipulation was to make a pygmy elephant. It could be a very interesting side-step into the movie cannon for that genome to have come from prehistoric mammoths (since there were several species of varying size).

The first animal was a Miniature Elephant about the size of a small dog. Hammond showed it to investors as a sales pitch for Jurassic Park.

In the novel, it's mentioned that Hammond went on tour with a small elephant he kept in a cage in order to lure investors and potential stock-holders. Perhaps that's the prehistoric animal that was first cloned in the 80's, a pygmy elephant.

interesting that they actually do keep a keen eye on the book canon this time around. I recalled that in the books they really had no idea what they where cloning. I'm slowly coming around to this movie. if only they would have made a similar Lore build up before Jurassic World

Maybe they firstly COULD have cloned something like a Dodo? They could've tried to make one but the incubation could have failed. (But it could actually have been a Smilodon like you said)

For the Trike info., it actually makes more sense and is even more awesome. For the non-saurian prehistoric animal, what if it was not a Smilodon (Sabre-toothed cat), but actually some extinct animal that died out more recently (i.e. a Passenger Pigeon, a Tasmanian Tiger, or a Golden Toad)?

I was going to suggest the Prehistoric animal was the secret Tylosaurus in JP: The Game, but then I remembered why it was secret: Because it was one of Henry Wu's infamous experiments AFTER the cloning had started. The Smilodon idea does make sense.

When you said a extinct animals that was cloned before the trike, that reminded me of the first novel where okapi was mentioned and that they had DNA to clone it so i think okapi is a good candidate based on the novel to be the first cloned extinct animal (i know it is not prehistoric but it is a good candidate for a such an ambitious test)

Would really love to see a non-dinosauric animal getting cooked in that Dr. Wu lab. Probably not in JW3 but definitely in a continuation trilogy. For long, I desired to see a live-action deinosuchus, dimetrodon, smilodon or a mammoth in a Jurassic film for so long, all interacting with the existing dinosaurs

My take on this is that I think it would be a aquatic creature, which would explain the aquatic dinosaur in Jurassic Park: The Game is there. And don’t quote me on this but I am pretty sure a saber tooth tiger would not hatch out of an egg and more likely be incubated, but this probably not the reality, it is just a theory of mine so yeah.

If any of you read the first book. The first prehistoric animal the was cloned was a Pygmy Mammoth or Pygmy Elephant (one of the other all I remember is that it was proboscis of some kind). They had a little circus and showed it off to build up guns to clone more prehistoric animals

Makes sense they would try a Cenozoic animal to try cloning first since it hasn’t been as long since they went extinct, compared to dinosaurs. And nice catch of the smilodon plushie. I never noticed that!

It honestly makes a lot of sense that they cloned a Trike first (or at least fits all the other canon best), and I honestly find the Smilodon theory to make sense. Its possible they cloned a Smilodon but its paddock wasn't ready for the park or they were trying figure out how to fit it in, or quite possibly, it was being kept in the African facility that Hammond briefly mentioned. Also, I'd like to hear your thoughts on a theory of mine regarding the effects of the lysine contingency. I think that the earliest bred dinosaurs were bred without the lysine contingency. I didn't read the Survival Guide so what I'm going to explain is pure speculation. Its possible that the earliest Trike, and any dinosaur bred (quite possibly Rexy) soon after didn't have the lysine contingent genes placed by Henry Wu due to the fact that none had escaped or were even considered to try escaping, until lets say Rexy escaped potentially for several days on her own until she was contained quietly, and that action from then on started to have everyone consider the lysine contingency in case of anymore escapes. As such, animals that were cloned in the future were at the mercy of the lysine contingency. Those earlier bred animals such as Rexy had higher chances of surviving on Nublar when it went down because of lysine efficient cells, and quiet possibly why Rexy was the only carnivore to survive, considering how fast the contingency works vs the success rate of predators. I also think not all of Masrani's animals are lysine contingent due to concerns of the public, especially the appeal of animal rights groups, and as such, were given the rights to live as long as they wanted without the need for the lysine contingency, which is why ACU was so heavily relied upon for park security. I'd like to hear your thoughts on my theory if thats alright.
