magnetic pickup does not 'pick up vibration' it picks up disturbance (of its magnetic field) caused by ferrous material in the steel strings

Im looking at a picture in a book and the one here is a prototype , its a wooden guitar and has screw theaded terminals for two wires,,/// creators = beauchamp,barth and watson. Hey Harvey N plug that guitar in next time, it is the first electric you know.
