My cousin is 100% Filipino. He's big like a Samoan. He identifies as Hawaiian but only been there a few times. He got Hawaiian tattoos, competes in hula, makes Hawaiian jewelry, and has the best cheehoo I ever heard. Does that make him one but Hawaiian? His aloha isn't very strong

As a Polynesian, I can tell you that we appreciate everyone that embraces us HOWEVER we do get annoyed when Filipinos claim they are Pacific Islanders because they dont like being Asian. We are not a mask to put on during Halloween. We are not an umbrella to shield you from being showered with Asian stereotypes. Grow a pair! We are a people, we are who we are by birth, not by choice. Please stop!
