He's really the only one there that just does one thing for a living, masonry. Out of our 3 man crew, one is a proper engineer, one is a video editor / photographer and Nick is, well he seems very, very handy to have around but I don't quite know what his back ground is. But I think he has the most knowledge of what he's doing.

Oh Dan, seeing you standing on the top wall, not tied off and blowing by the fancy of that piece of wood SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME. We will all miss you if the worst happens, and think of your boys !!

You know we all say that but I really don't think he cares about anything but the chateau. It has become a dangerous obsession. Old Dan is gone! It's not cheeky or adventurous. It is just inconsiderate and disrespectful! Dan, you make more than enough to build it on the ground next Spring and hire the equipment to raise it to the top! You should cap it off for now and secure the built roofs with secure roofing material and slate, copper guttering. You said you figured 5 years for this project. What is the rush? Dead men build no chateaus! SMH. I hope Dan's dream doesn't become Dan's folly!

Not gonna lie, watching you up there, I could just feel myself doing it when I was roofing many years ago. I got a wee adrenaline buzz from watching you free walking the top of the wall. Be careful guys, it's a long way down to that sudden stop at the bottom. The Mason is doing an awesome job of making it look all fresh and new as well.

Really good lime work in the basement-had my front wall re-pointed by french Artisans in the Vendee. The basement room is looking excellent- so good to see the original work being restored and not a placoboard insitu.

The infilling between bricks and stone is also called Pointing. So your comment," The masonry is on point" is the perfect statement, and a terrific pun. I enjoy a good pun, made on purpose or accidentally, so my heartfelt congratulations!

From the basement stone pointing to the methodical planning and care you put into every floor and roof to the very top of the turret, this house is going to be stunning. I'm so grateful to be able to watch you day by day lay each brick and remove each little sappling from the crumbling walls. It is so satisfying watching your progress, I wish I could volunteer to help out, but I know I'd just get in the way. Many thanks Dan for posting everyday, bringing us vicariously into your world.

The basement walls are simply beautiful. You are so fortunate to have found such a skilled craftsman. In a perfect world, the weather would cooperate, so that the work would be less treacherous for you and Nick.

Lawdamercy! Perched up there on that narrow wall without a safety harness?! I know it must be a pain to wear one, but you want to live to see this renovation through!
