@@faithcastillo9597 I don't think there was ever an exit plan, especially for the first generation of colonists. Everyone who signed up understood it was a one way trip. Which explained the exasperated tone of the CEO when he learned someone wanted to come home. He bellowed about the time and resources it would take to build a ship and travel to them.

I would hardly call it fear or self-preservation. Many people who beg for a death penalty are themselves self-righteous. And all of that besides, when Justice has decided on mercy and rehabilitation and an individual goes and lynches the murderer, they themselves have now broken the law and committed murder on a man who, by law, was sentenced to rehabilitation. To kill a man who was spared death by the law just because he committed a murderer is absolutely the same as the murder that man committed.

Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. - Genesis 9:6 KJV Mercy To The Guilty Is Cruelty To The Innocent. - Adam Smith: Founding Father This was also an excellent cautionary tale of why you don't craft an entire body of law upon majority rule or mob rule. The majority doesn't always rule righteously. This is why our Founding Fathers sagely included a bill of rights. Rights, a thing that is not subject to the whims of the mob; something inalienable. The innocent victim in all of this, where was his justice? The majority in this case was so Hell bent upon virtue signaling their compassion for the living that they totally ignored securing justice for the dead. The law is supposed to serve as a deterrent. Knowing that all you're going to get is rehabilitation after murdering someone is hardly a deterrent. These scientists may have been smart or intelligent, but hardly wise. They thought because they left Earth, they could also leave God and His morals behind as well.

God has no place in this story. Plus, more people have been killed in the name of God than for any other reason.

@@thedirtyjimmy That is a lie. Godless governments and regime's have murdered more humans than anyone in the name of the one true God of the bible. But before you're thrown into the lake of fire at your judgment be sure to ask God about the statistics as to who has murdered more....unlike man...God cannot lie.

@@commandericeman8588 Alright then. I believe you're wrong, but alright then. There's really nothing I can say that will steer you otherwise, so if believing some person you've never met is going to be horrendously tortured allows you to peacefully lay your head on your pillow at night thinking you're doing something good by spreading antiquated dogma then have at it. But please, keep your twisted assumptions away from works of fiction that do not have anything to do with God or religion. As I said, there's no place for it in this story. It was purposefully left out for a reason.
