Over years and across extensive miles of testing, the Kuryakyn Extended Brake Pedal has earned my unwavering endorsement. The stock brake pedal's design, crafted by Harley engineers, poses significant discomfort. At 5'-8" tall with a men's US shoe size of 9.5, I find the stock position terribly inconvenient. It's short, lacks forward extension, and sits at an uncomfortably high angle, resulting in poor ergonomic support for both touring and training scenarios.

I've been riding for 40+ years.... Never had an issue. I'm 5'11" with a size 13 boot. For me, I see this as a preference and an unnecessary modification for my bikes. It may be for better some, but don't say it is a must-have 1st modification.

Great tip, I've always struggled with the rear brake placement on my 2010 road king. I just thought it was because I was used to riding a bike with pegs. Unfortunately you don't appear to stock anything for a bike made prior to 2014. There are a lot of pre-2014 touring bikes still on the road, I won't mention any competitors by name here, but most other online parts dealers carry the girder style for pre-2014 bikes and they are actually in stock too. I will return when the parts arrive for an install refresher, thanks for the video.

I bought the SoftBrake last year and it has made a world of difference. The extended model wouldn't fit my Road Glide Ultra but the extension wasn't what I needed, it was the lower position. It makes it so much easier to work the back brake while keeping the bike under a load during slow maneuver's.

@ryanurlacher Your videos are fantastic! I am in the market for a new bike. Safety is my number one concern. I come from riding a BMW GS. One of my big concerns about the Harley's is the weight and lower ground clearance. Seems like to me if you find yourself running into a corner a bit to fast or somebody pulls out in front of you that the Harley will likely take longer to stop and be a bit less maneuverable than an Adventure Bike. Have you spent any time on an Adventure Bike? I would really appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks!

The extended reach pedal is a game changer. I can now pivot on the ball of my feet and cover the brake pedal without lifting my foot. You talk about being avg at 5'8" with 9 and a1/2 foot size (US) So but what more would help is.. What is your inseam? the stretch of the leg would be more important as far as the reach goes, no? Also, youdon't like it high, but if someone does have a short inseam persay, they might not be able to reach the pedal. So, it's all how the rider likes and fits more so.. I would think.. Anyway, good subject to bring to light and I have seen quite a few of our vids by now and have enjoyed them all.. TCRS D.

I just cannot see spending $130.00 on this and it benefitting me. Never noticed an issue.

Whoever owned my bike before me did this. Never knew different and never want to. Other people see it and ask how I got the pedal flat. I’m always like. 🤷‍♂️

I can see the benefit of having the brake pedal lower. But farther out is ridiculous. You still must move your leg forward to apply the brake. I am 5'7" and own a 93 FXRS-CONV and a 2010 FLHTC I have short legs. If anything, I want to reduce my leg travel to the pedal not increase it. If it came in a shorter version I would consider it. I basically like the idea. Like my 93 FXRS-CONV and all the Triumphs and Nortons I have owned hitting the rear brake was just twisting your foot sideways. You practically already have the pedal covered with no leg movement whatsoever. You're also able to get your feet to the ground faster to stabilize the bike while stopping. Using that longer pedal could be the difference between dropping the bike and keeping it upright due to the increased distance the leg needs to travel to the ground during a stopping event. I'll take the pedal position on my FXRS-CONV and my British bikes anytime over my Electra Glide.

Did this on my 2019 Road Glide Ultra as well as my 2022 CVO Road Glide Limited. This should be standard. The stock pedal is unusable. Unusable safety equipment is dangerous.

Kuryakyn has the worst customer service ever, their light system is now useless as the app stopped working and they have no plans to fix .

Sometimes I think the design guys at Harley are all complete nincompoops. Practically everyone wears boots when they ride. Boots are bigger than shoes and the stock brake pedal and often the shifter lever are too short. They get in the way of just being able to place your feet square on the floorboards. The extra 1 inch or so of length makes it so you can plant your boots on the floorboards without crap being in the way.

That’s not true. With lower pedal , the ability of pressing of pedal and control is much compromised. The reason why Harley is using it that way is science and well studied. Please do not promote articles that completely compromise the controls.

Thanks for watching. As a full time police motorcycle officer and instructor, I disagree. I've run both stock and this one. This one is not only more ergonomic, it's safer.
