At the airplane factory this past week to check out the all new experimental Sling 4 tsi. This aircraft is officially the flagship airplane for airplane factory.
Built on a successful platform of the Sling 4 turbo. The all new TSi gives the builder and Pilot even better performance; longer range, better climb rate and faster cruise speeds at 145 knots to 150 knots. All with a turbocharged, full fadec rotax 915 engine. This power plant allows the airplane to push out 140hp on take off and 135 hp continuos all the way to 15,000 feet. What the means for the Sling is that you have almost full power even in higher altitude. This will allow the Tsi to out perform even some high performance airplanes in higher altitude.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t go out and fly because The Tsi is currently grounded, also the current weather in LA is all rainy. But I promise to bring you more coverage on this aircraft in future dates.
Sling TSI Specs
Cruise Speed: 155+ ktas

Empty Weight: 1,080 lbs
Useful Load: 1,015 lbs
Wing Span: 31.3’

The workload on the TSI is nearly non existent. During the demo flight i kept feeling I was suppose to be doing more as far as pilot input but it wasn’t necessary.

I love having access to the power plant and the avionics behind a firewall. But I'm interested in how well the cowling is anchored to the fuselage ? The cord line of the wing surface areas is something you can do some CAD with on your presentations. Your wife looks like she could be an interior decorator and have these programs. With some finagling and knowledge you can illustrate the importance where your pitched of the leading age of the wing.

Can you do a video on why do airplanes and helicopters have so many switches and buttons? and how important are they? How often do pilots have to use them? Can all those buttons and switches be narrow down to just a couple 20 or 40
@mojogrip
@mojogrip 5 жыл бұрын
Noted.
@seikibrian8641
@seikibrian8641 5 жыл бұрын
Some of the switches are used regularly, others only rarely. Many of the "buttons" are actually circuit breakers. The reason there are so many within the pilot's reach compared to an automobile is because if there are problems in flight you can't just pull over and pop the hood to work on it.

Juan Bolanos have you ever heard of the term "balls to the wall" . It's from the WWII fighter pilots Pushing the throttle into the firewall of the plane. They use tactile recognition for throttle, prop pitch and carburetor heat. The avionics were clustered for the aviators convenience in the cockpit. The first three things to know. Is to Aviate, navigate and communicate. The switches are in the mitts of those three things to do in the cockpit. Think deep on this and you can be in aviator too. I have a riddle for you.which can land safer without power? An airplane or a helicopter ❓

Sweet plane! Did I miss: Ft/Min & cruise speed @ level flight and MTOW? I bet it hauls, tho. Hmmm, best thing ever, cuz, it's 1 degree here (wind chill -18, ouch!) and, there's a gusty, shifty up to 35 knots- so, no flying today. Heck, I haven't seen my usual traffic of commercial either? Is it me, or, is this winter just seeming colder and less flight inviting, or, am I just getting older? (Rhetorical question- No answer needed!) So sweet, but grounded- jes like Mr, Palmer's cub killah with the newly installed 915 IS. Guess those Cubs are still having all the fun these days. As always, Thank you Mike for tracking the owner down, getting the story, and- great footage of a VERY sweet 4 seater!

Mike, can we see some real world number cruising cross country in the TSI at ~10K and then ~15k ft showing cruise max speed and efficient cruise with fuel burn. Lots of people are looking for real world numbers. Weight, 2 people which is most common. Why she max payload when that is rarely the case. I’m looking to the TSI with extended range ranks (extra 20 gal) for CC Travel to visit customers. The extended range tanks and efficient cruise should be 1,200 - 1,400 range. Crazy! Thanks in advance.

Thinks about the convenience....fuel-up on standard 91+ octane fuel at your home field and have a huge range to fly all week making multiple stops and return home all on the same fuel load or maybe filling up once. The fact this engine is designed to run on standard high octane using the turbo for max hp at altitude is awesome!
