Join me in the first step of creating a new junk journal project - finding inspiration and choosing papers. I start by collecting a variety of papers, such as scrapbook or designer papers, vintage book pages and common household papers. I will also share my best resources for finding these papers and show examples of the kinds of papers I commonly use in my junk journal signatures.
This video is perfect for beginning journal makers and part of a planned series of making a journal from start to finish. -I hope it will be helpful to everyone!

Thank you for doing this. I just jump in the deep end. It’s very calming to walk in from the shallow end. I think I could use a little calm

Oh, Kathleen! That little Byron book is absolutely amazing! What a treasure to now have! I love to see videos designed for beginners because when I first discovered this craft I had trouble finding this type of video and so I appreciate that you are considering the beginners. Plus, I’m never too old to listen and learn and pick up ideas and techniques. Well done, dear friend! 😀💞

Isn’t it amazing - I so appreciate generous friends! I’m glad you feel this way about the upcoming series Keryn! I don’t want to get too bogged down in things people already know, but I really have sympathy for those who are trying to paddle around in such a sea of information. Thanks for your steady support.

Kathleen, this was so interesting to watch. Seeing the items your friend gave to you just about took my breath away--the Byron book! Oh Wow! Those flowers are gorgeous. Each book is so lovely. I know you felt like heaven opened up and dumped a big blessing on you. What a great friend! And I'm sure it pleased her and her friend that their things are going to be used. I found a package of doilies at a thrift store once, and you're right--the old ones are so much nicer than what we find new now. I wonder if that embroidered piece was to be a set to be used on furniture--antimacassar type thing and for the arms (one piece missing?). Lovely embroidery. That piece of lace and the post cards for 5 cents each from the thrift store are great finds. Man, I want to find a thrift store like that. I'm going to have to start checking mine more often. I love where you are going with this journal. It is going to be so pretty. I also found it interesting to hear how you assemble your papers for your journals. I'm sure others are going to find it helpful as well, especially someone just wanting to get started and not knowing exactly where to start. Thanks so much for sharing.

Thank you Linda! Yes, the bundle of treasures from my friend really is breathtaking - I just love it all. I also wonder if the panels were for a chair. When I first wanted to shop the thrift stores for junk journaling, I couldn’t find anything that I thought would be lovely. After so many years of looking, I can spot things a little better, but the take is still very random. Antique stores are a little better, but waaaay more pricey. It’s my friends that honestly are the best resource! I hope you have some supportive friends.

@@BeAgainBooks I do, but so far no one has given me books like those. I was able to take some books from my aunt’s estate, some bird books and a couple of gardening type books. I find that I usually have to hoard books for a while before I can start using them. I’ve enjoyed chatting with you today. Have a great week.

Good morning Kathleen, I am so excited for this series. I love the way you approach your journals and look forward to watching the entire process. What wonderful treasures you came home with. Those paper doilies are fabulous. They already show signs of aging. I do have a question: Would you explain how you cut down the 12x12 papers and how you print on the opposite side? I noticed that the kit you spoke about was on the reverse side of the designer papers. I think it's a great idea. Have a wonderful Sunday and week ahead!
@BeAgainBooks
@BeAgainBooks 9 ай бұрын
Hooray! I'm so glad you will follow along Sheryl! Whatever paper I want to print on, I just cut a slice that is 8.5 inches wide and put it face up in the paper tray. If it is directional, you may have to experiment with where the top needs to be. With my printer it is to the left when I face the printer. I leave the length up to about 14 inches. Then I print. That gives me a page at least 8 inches tall, which is usually about what I trim to anyway. I trim the length later when I fold the signature pages. I hope that answers your question, or do I need to show in the next video?

@@BeAgainBooks I think I get it but if you want to show everyone that would be great too. No pressure though. I'll try it this week and see how it goes. Thanks so much for answering my question!
