Very nice Castrol-Toyota Yaris Rally2. As an old rally enthusiast and already in the 70s and 80s also an active rally driver in a SAAB 96 V4, I have always thought that Castrol paints and of course their products have always been the best. I still have parts of all the Castrol promotional stuff left in the garage. Everything from unopened various oil cans, clothes, plates, flags to large illuminated signs for the wall.

For me the main difference between the two cars is that the ST185 showed how far we came since car ownership became a thing, and the potential and exciting future we have ahead; and the WRC2 car is actually that future. I don't think petrol cars can be tweeked much further. The future is now.

Well Nicky the Yaris GR is a nice wee car but it’s no patch on the Celica I wish the guys all the very best but hate to say in 30yr time you ask anyone about rallying it’ll still be Subaru’s and Celicas and yourself and Colin ,Juha , Ari Vatanen, Walter, Jimmy Colin’s dad and all the guys from that era it’s the old skool that’s frozen in history it’s ingrained in folklore and in our minds forever all this R1 R2 and so on sadly won’t be remembered imo….. ps liked the wee radio controlled Celica 😂😂🤝👍
@HJK24210 ай бұрын
That's not true, I didn't wasn't old enough in that era so this 2017-today is the best era. Also you can properly watch WRC unlike back then when highlights where all you got, and watching those old cars after these modern ones make them look really slow, those new Subarus have nothing to do with rally anymore
@sscottwilsonn10 ай бұрын
@@HJK242that’s where you’re wrong Subaru in America are more or less all that’s successful in the ARA so they’re very much very much in use in rally maybe not wrc but that’s just because wrc is tamed down now . Also there’s no other driver has made a car manufacturer what they are today Subaru are where they are thanks to Colin and Nicky mostly 🤝👍
@nickygristmotorsports10 ай бұрын
Thanks Scott. The radio controlled Celica is great, isn't it? John who is driving it designed the original Castrol livery which is shown on my Celica.
@mugenmark10 ай бұрын
@@sscottwilsonnWRC is absolutely not tamed down. The cars make 500+ bhp and are faster than the group b monsters. Subaru are practically unheard of outside of the US nowadays and don’t even make anything spicy nowadays whereas Toyota can’t sell enough of the GR branded cars and are dominating motorsport.
@sscottwilsonn10 ай бұрын
@@mugenmark ok it’s not tamed down do some research into how long the stages are now compared to the past and research the routes it’s a lot shorter and a lot smoother because the cars can’t handle the abuse and they may be faster but there’s not as much sideways not as much flamboyance hence why the historic rallies and Roger Albert Clark etc have more interest fact 👍👍

This Yaris sounds a hell of a lot better than the road car which sounds like a hairdryer which puts me off it to be honest. It’s a shame the designers did not focus on giving the road car a more aggressive exhaust sound.
@iwsisteinholz551010 ай бұрын
More likely manufacturer/Designer needed to follow gouvernment restrictions. New cars have to be silent from factory, except you use some exploits, which japanese manufacturers are not known for.
