Say hello to Proceratosaurus - a little theropod dinosaur distantly related to T. rex, Albertosaurus, Tarbosaurus, and a range of giant meat-eaters that would later dominate the Earth. This crested little stinker is the namesake of its own family, including feathered tyrannosaurs like Guanlong and Yutyrannus, and is one of the earliest examples of what the tyrant dinosaurs - and coelurosaur (birdlike) dinosaurs in general - looked like close to their evolutionary origin. But does its portrayal in Jurassic World Evolution 2 do it justice? How would this dinosaur have fared in a real Jurassic Park? 13:03 Proceratosaurus in canon was created by Ingen at some point between 1985 and 1991. They were definitely on Sorna and had a dedicated enclosure on Nublar as of 1993 but it’s unknown if they were ever actually on the island. By 2015 there were no living Proceratosaurus. They probably died out between 1994 and 2005. Their embryos were one taken by Nedry in 1993.

Proceratosauridae is honestly my favourite group of tyrannosauroids, mostly because of their cool crests and because Yutyrannus is there. This game did both their proceratosaurids justice with their designs.

The only thing I hate about Proceratosaurus is that it suffers from “wow, this thing looks weird without feathers.” And that still isn’t much of an issue for me, despite me growing up with feathers on dinos. For context, I was born in ‘08.

Same here, Australovenator and it’s closest relatives are such a source of fascination for me (especially because I am Australian and we are so bereft of good fossil material when it comes to the Mesozoic, so whenever a new species from here gets a formal description and name, they get to live rent free in my brain), like what was going on in Gondwana to cause these medium to maip sized theropods to focus on the trait of grabby hands when almost every other group of tetanuran theropod seemed to specialise their hind legs or heads. Why did they become grapplers that are so distinctly different to the other theropods that have similarly grabby handed adaptations such as baryonychine spinosaurids? Will we ever see that paper about Lightning Claw that has been rumoured for what feels like a decade finally published and will it answer any of the mysteries about megaraptora, if it truly is a specimen of Australovenator or even from the same clade? Can the authors of the paper finish it before the Skeleton Crew can spin that wheel and it inevitably lands on our dastardly Australian rogue? Tune in next time, and find out ~

I love Proceratosaurus in this game. I love how long and lanky it is. I love how lizard and wiggly the tail is. I love the little sounds and mannerisms they gave it. It has some of the best skins of any small carnivore in the game. The vest design is beautiful. I give it a high S.

I think my favorite aspect of the proceratosaurs is that it helps with showing the early origins of my favorite group of dinosaurs. Something this channel brought up is missing for many dinosaurs families who in theory should first evolve in the Jurassic like the Dromeosaurs. As for Proceratosaurus itself it's another one of the good Bois I tend to go out of my way to include. Typically, it is either near or in the same enclosure as Trex (evo 1 at least) itself as a sort of nod to it being an "forefather" to the Dinosaurs king. Though now I alternate between him and Moros

This guy does actually look good with feathers/fuzz. There’s a paleo-accuracy mod, Liv’s paleo overhaul, and she has all her small theropods as feathered and the Proceratosaurus looks really good. Better than the Frontier design, I’d say. But I’d say that about most of her designs.

Proceratosaurus is indeed made in the Raptor rig. If you watch it's face while its standing, it's lips move and head moves exactly like Velociraptor, Pyroraptor, and Troodon I think

9:16 Do you know what's even funnier? In jurassic world alive, the mobile game that most prominently features proceratosaurus, its hybrid creature, procerathomimus(proceratosaurus + ornithomimus), DOES have the full - length crest that goes all the way to the lacrimal, even though the proceratosaurus itself isn't portrayed with it. (game's fallen off sadly even though it had some decent designs)
