Cool story that RVD told recently as tribute to Sid. He mentioned this squash match and how Sid was very appreciative after the match for helping to make him look good. He gave both RVD and the other guy $20 as a thank you, saying it wasn't much but it'd get them a bit further down the road. RIP to one of the best big men ever in wrestling.

The most ignored multi-promotion World Champion of all time!! The body of work of the man that rules the world lasted from the peak of the Hulkamania era to the tail end of the Monday Night Wars. Sid's been a draw and main eventer in two of WWF's Wrestlemanias and WCW's final Starrcade. He's the first wrestler that made a world title change against Bret Hart before Wrestlemania 13 on an non-PPV episode of RAW, encouraged the Shock Master to break through a paper-thin wall, first person to eliminate Hogan in a Royal Rumble, had the second longest undefeated streak behind Goldberg in his final run in WCW, ECW's only undefeated wrestler, and for crying out loud he broke he fibula and tibula doing a top rope big boot that killed any drawing power WCW had. It pisses me off how this man contributed so much for WWF and WCW and I was singing high praises about him months before he passed away. Now those same haters of Sid that discredit his body of work are now praising him, similar to how people made fun of Michael Jackson before his death are now saying MJ's the greatest of all time, pretending what they said against them never really happened. I'm glad that I didn't let what WWE's propaganda machine or internet wrestling community says about Sid as truth. I know he's every bit of an unsung hero of American pro wrestling, up there with Big Van Vader, Ravishing Rick Rude, and so many more. RIP Sid! You're one of my favorite giant badass heels of all time and you'll be forever missed!

Sid was never a big draw for WCW. He was on the level of Steiner/Booker but below Flair and above Jarrett. Set to be a top guy moving forward but then he had the injury and WCW ended. In the 90s people thought his matches were boring, there were MANY slow big guys at the time - thats how the injury came about as he was pressured to do something more interesting and memorable 😢 Without the injury, would he have been in TNA? 😮

@NJ973201 4 ай бұрын
Yup, it was only in replays on their TV shows that they dubbed over it with fake boos and redone commentary but they left it alone on all home videos (not counting Invasion 92 which had the TV version during a Flair segment). Funny enough, the Anthology DVD/Network version is probably the best presentation since they kept both live PPV & Coliseum Video VHS promos (see why Hogan & Flair had two on that show).

@@jonbourgoin182 Agreed, and wrestlers' would actually sell the People's Elbow, since you were able to. Plus getting an elbow to the center of the chest would hurt quite a bit and likely knock the wind out of you in real life, so it was believable. In his Mania match against Hogan, what happened was that Hogan hit the leg drop and the plan was for Papa Shango to break it up for the DQ. Except Shango missed his cue and didn't get to the ring in time, so Sid decided the best thing for him to do was kick out instead of letting the ref count three. I think that's when Harvey climbed in the ring and the match got thrown out because it was supposed to end in a DQ anyway.

Did deserved to hold the belt longer. Loved his character as a heel, him and Wippleman as his manager.

Sid was huge, intense and looked like amillion bucks. That goes a long way in The Business.

I never knew about the Sid Justice character. I was only ever familiar with the Sid Vicious and Sycho Sid characters. I just remember how scary the super angry mullet man was as a kid. It wasn't until I was a bit older, that I fell in love with his style of wrestling. For me he was the Goldberg before there was a Goldberg (except he could put on much longer matches).

For me as a child in the late 80s and early 90s...sid was probably the most intimidating and visually menacing heel in wrestling. He was just gnarly looking and his hair reminded me of ramen noodles lol

I was always a fan of SID. He was scary,, intense,, cool and unintentionally funny all wrapped into one..He was a champion in both promotions and even wrestled in the real ECW and was "over" with the fans. SID

Is there any stories about Sid's random heel turn? Cause this almost feels and seems like a Hogan move forcing Sid to turn heel at the height of his popularity

Is anyone going to point out how Sid dispels the myth of wearing baby blue means you're going to lose? Because he's winning a lot in those baby blue tights. Unless you want to be pedantic and call them sky blue
