There are data that show that aspiration is more painful for the vaccine recipient. IM injections are not given in areas where large vessels are present. It is, indeed, sad the white coat ceremony has begun, now, as a tradition. The white coat should not be given to any student until it has been EARNED--and, at a minimum, that would be the start of clinical training. While WEARING a white coat can symbolize medical education, giving the coat as a ceremonium is ridiculous.
