That was fun Ben and you played well. To me I just think you didn’t miss the best moves you just distrusted yourself. 25:58 when you turn off the review the best move was Ba3 a move you had mentioned and then moved away from. 14:47 look at your first thought Rad1. He can’t defend the Rook on d8 and the mate if he plays Qc8 you take the rook anyway and if he recaptures Qxb7 is mate. You then go on to calculate the difference between the two rook moves and stop before you are finished. The move you played with the knight is ok anyway and you won. So two things Ben trust yourself and finish your calculations. Very happy to see you so happy. Thanks mate.

@19:58 - I think this is fun (for now) @20:04 that's called cardiomegaly. You might want to get that checked (joke). @23:35 - Actually instead of f4 you should have considered Nb5. Similar idea happened later in the position with the suggested Nd5 sac. Looks odd but this is a similar idea that occurs in the Bg4 line in the Philidor. Sample line: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 Bg4 4.dxe5 Bxf3 5.Qxf3 dxe5 6.Bc4 Qf6 7.Qb3 b6 8.Nc3 c6 and in this position Nb5 is a strong move due to breakthrough against an uncastled king. As an aside, Nd5 also works here like in your game.

I like to start each game with the Scotch. Single Malt or Blend? That is the question. The challenge is to win the game before getting knocked out by the Chivas Regal…

Good call, although I barely drink these days. But I do like a nice Scotch. The Chivas distillery is only about 10 miles from where I live.
