The fishing vessel "'Green Pastures" departs N.Ireland - bound for New Zealand 1965

I loved that old girl, trusted my life with her as we fished at the Chatham's in the sixties. Same she had to finish up that way.

did a trip on her in 96 out of Westport with Fred Fishburne and the Butcher set netting for seal shark livers. what a beautiful vessel ! saw her parked up years later in Tauranga having apparently been involved in the Rena salvage...

Pat Ganley/owner engineer,Tom Buchanan/sailing master,Mick Kinloch/deckhand, Robert Slater/deckhand, Robbie Dicke/deckhand, N/Ireland to Aruba for bunkers/stores then Panama canal to Tahiti for bunkers/stores (RnR) and on to Auckland, eventually sold to Cliff Skeggs port Chalmers.

Poor old boat is stuck on the slip at Tauranga as City council wants berthage fees which are more than boat is worth. Would love to know about the incredible story of sailing that boat all the way to New Zealand, must be brave men.

This boat unfortunatley got demolished as she was falling apart...lovely vessel ashame she went to waste
